The Holidays Are Here, Ice Cream Lovers

Okay, Friends. Today is September 15 and that means Summer is about end and Fall is about to begin. Right? RIGHT? In most of the country, this would be true.

 

Well, an article appeared in the online magazine, Southern Living, which talked about Publix and the turnover from its summer ice cream flavors to Holiday favorites.

Here in Florida, and across the Old South, you will be jumping right to Thanksgiving and Christmas. You know. The Holidays.

That’s right. In places like Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, North and South Carolina and yes, here in Sunny Florida, the Holidays have arrived at Publix and Holiday ice cream will be available for a limited time.

Here are the flavors, in sixty-four ounce tubs, which are available this month:

• Snickerdoodle - The brown-butter ice cream is swirled with with cinnamon graham crumbs and cookies

• Marshmallow Candy Cane and Cookie Blast – This flavor features marshmallow ice cream, crushed candy cane, and a chocolate-cookie swirl

• Deep Dish Apple Pie - This apple-flavored ice cream is swirled with brown sugar-cinnamon, apple chunks, and sugar-rolled pie crust

• Pumpkin Pie - Why not serve up pumpkin pie-flavored ice cream swirled with whipped cream and piecrust pieces

• Caramel Mountain Tracks - The coffee ice cream has ribbons of Mackinac caramel, praline pecans, and caramel turtles

• Santa’s White Christmas – This flavor has cocoa espresso flakes and Barnie’s coffee, which has notes of vanilla, coconut, and caramel

• Egg Nog - The rich eggnog-flavored ice cream has "a kiss of nutmeg."

• Peppermint Stick – This is classic and simple: vanilla and peppermint candy

So get your spoon and dish ready, and dole out a large portion of your favorite icream flavor. You don’t even need any toppings because they all come with some.

Well, maybe some chocolate or caramel syrup will give it zing. And whipped cream, of course.

And then, dig in and enjoy.
