A Reasoned Explanation for Blindness

I often wonder why people who voted for Obama twice defend him with such fervor. After all, even the Left Stream Media, which used to march in lockstep (or was it goose-step?) have begun to show cracks in the armor to defend their hero.

I recently had discussions with several friends who voted for the man I believe has shown he is, if not an outright traitor, one who is certainly bordering on treason with the way he continously violates his oath as President to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States". While many of us believe this document is our Core  Law, he and his henchmen, Jeh Johnson, John Kerry, and Eric Holder treat it like it is nothing more than a suggestion list.


The more I questioned why they so strongly defend him and his unconstitutional actions, the more shrill they became. I could not understand why such otherwise intelligent people so vehemently defended the Violator-In-Chief.

Until today.

It seems that these are the same people who castigated Nixon, Clinton and Bush, hated these men because they truly loved this country, sins and all. We are not a perfect country, far from it. But if you read the Preamble to the Constitution, the Framers understood we were human and indicated it with the words, "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

Yes, friends, we are not perfect. But, even with our sins, and our warts and, our imperfect history, we are better than any country or empire that ever existed.

So then, why does this man think he has a responsibility to "fundamentally transform" this great nation of ours? And to those of you who support his agenda, how can you still think he is right?

Don't you see that he has violated even the preamble, let alone all seven Articles and all twenty-seven Amendments?


If the Weeper of the House had any courage at all, the House Judiciary Committee would be considering Article of Impeachment, just like it did for Nixon and Clinton. And these men have not nearly broken their oaths to "preserve, protect and defend" as this persona non grata has. But, I guess Boehner has committed some serious violations of his own. Must be the reason. Why else has he done NOTHING?

The reason Obama supporters still support this man is this: They have looked in the mirror and can't believe the person looking back could have been so duped by such empty words, actions unbecoming a President, and hypocrisy of the American media. They believed, blindly.

Trust me, my friends. We have all been embarrassed by our idealism. It is ok. You meant well.

Please be honest and admit this man needs to be removed for his wonton, criminal behaviorThat is the least you can do to save YOUR Posterity.

Presidential Legacies

Presidents, especially two-termers, spend the last two years working very hard on their legacies. Sometimes, as in the case of Harding, Roosevelt and Kennedy, death gets in the way. Then, we are forced to look at the term as a whole and define that event, that moment, which eclipses all others.

For example, Harding had his Teapot Dome, Roosevelt is remembered for ending the Depression, though some say it was WWII which did that, and Kennedy is remembered for his successes with the Cuban Missile Crisis and his (late) support for the Civil Rights Movement.


Truman is remembered for his decision to drop "the bomb" in order to end WWII, Eisenhower is remembered for entrenching the Cold War as part of world history for almost 40 years, and Clinton is remembered both for his impeachment and for presiding over a robust economy, which in his last year, failed.


Johnson is remembered for escalating a war Kennedy was going to end, and also for the Voting Rights Act, civil rights legislation and that fiasco he called the Great Society. Nixon ended the war, opened the door to China and built the Great Detente with the Soviet Union. But he is also remembered for a constitutional crisis known as Watergate.

Ford is remembered for his WIN buttons and for his blanket pardon of Nixon. Carter is remembered for his great work in resolving the Egyptian-Israeli conflicts with the Camp David Accords but also for the Iranian Hostage Crisis. Reagan is remembered for his ability to reach down deep inside us to bring out that "feel good" feeling about ourselves and our Country and also for setting the stage to end the Cold War.


Bush I is remembered for closing the deal on the Reagan advances with the Soviets, watched The Wall come down and energized democracy in Eastern Europe. He also is remembered for leading the UN to do the right thing in Iraq and then blew his legacy with a failing economy from mid-1991 to the end of his presidency.

His son was destined to fix the economy he inherited when he was forced to respond to the greatest attack on US soil since Pearl Harbor.  He involved us in two wars which did not end before he left office and presided over the worst financial disaster since the Great Depression.

I have laid out for you how Presidents' legacies are created. There are those who will disagree with the fine points but in the scheme of legacies, this is fairly accurate.

So, now we come to Obama. He came into office facing a horrible economywhich he still hasn't fixed even though the unemployment rate is under 6%. It is that low because people have fallen off the eligible rolls to be permitted to continue to file for unemployment. He has, as a "Constitutional Law Professor" violated the Constitution worse than Nixon was ever able to devise during Watergate, while the Congress and the media stand by with their collective heads in the sand.

He has managed, using his "community organizer skillset"divided us into so many factions we are no longer united as Americans. He has done this with race, politics, and just this week, religion, by comparing crusaders to ISIS and trying to chastise us for it. This man is a hateful, jealous, spiteful little man who has the power of our most treasured office and a bully pulpit to spew his vitriol.


Trust me when I say this: unlike FDR, JFK, Reagan or Clinton, Obama has created a legacy for himself which in the years to come, will be defined as the most vile, the most contemptible period ever in American history. These first four men I just mentioned are some of the most revered people to ever hold the office, sins and all, by most Americans. 

When people mention Obama in five years or ten, we will hang our collective head in shame for having been so stupid and so blind for electing the most evil man to our highest office.  And then we must ask our descendants for their forgiveness for the country we leave them to try and fix.

That, my friends, is the Obama Era in AmericaLike Stalin in Russia or Hitler in Germany, he will have destroyed his country. And he will have done in in record time, in only eight years.

This will be a time that will never be discussed if it can be helped.

The Greatest Super Bowl - EVAH!

On January 12, 1969, for whole other reasons, the greatest Super Bowl of my football life was played on a cold, rainy Sunday afternoon in Miami. It was, by far, a historic occasion because the upstart AFL New York Jets, led by a young, brash and yet, confident Joe Namath made good on a guarantee, that his Jets would beat the mighty Baltimore Colts.

It was a guarantee taken out of context, but Namath proved to be correct and a legend was born; and parity between the NFC and the AFC, the successor conferences to the old AFL and merged NFL, was created by the Jets' unbelievable and unexpected win. Super Bowl III is still very special to this Jets fan.

However, to this FOOTBALL fan, Sunday's game was the best played Super Bowl - ever.

The game featured last year's Super Bowl Champs, the Seattle Seahawks led by a terrific up and coming QB Russell Wilson, against the team and the quarterback who had won three of five Super Bowls since 2000, the New England Patriots and Tom Brady. It was, arguably, the best defense against the best offense. Even the bookies couldn't decide, as they had this game at "pick 'em".


Even with all the distraction concerning deflated footballs and dirty defense, both teams showed up to play a game, focused in football and not all the distractions. This is the mark of true champions.

So, the best NFC team with the best defense squared off at 6:30 Sunday evening against the best AFC team with the best offense, with the outcome totally unpredicted.  At the end of 30 playing minutes, in fact, the game was still even, tied at 14. The bookies, and fans it seemed, had this one right.

At the end of 45 minutes, the Seahawks, led by Wilson, were up by 10, 24-14. But the Patriots, led by the inestimable Brady, certainly were not out. Not by a long shot.
With 2:02 left in the game, Brady proved why he is the best QB playing today, one of the best to ever play the game or the position.  He threw a pass to Julian Edelman to take the lead again. But Russell Wilson wasn't done, either. 

He took his Seahawks down the field with a great 31 yard pass to his running back Marshawn Lynch and an improbable catch by Jerome Kearse, defended by a rookie, Malcolm Butler, at the five with 20 seconds left.

For the Patriots, it seemed to be a repeat of the two losses to the Giants in SB XLII and XLVI, with miracle catches with seconds to go in both those games. But, after a three yard run by Lynch, the best running back in the NFL, it was second and goal from the three and 18 seconds to go.


And then, the Seahawks allowed defeat to be drawn from the jaws of an impending victory. Wilson dropped back to pass and the young rookie, who just two game seconds before failed to stop the miracle catch, turned his goat horns into a hero's crown.  That's right, Butler intercepted Wilson's pass at the goal line.

The last 18 seconds of this game was anti-climactic, with an offsides penalty, a fight, a 15 yard penalty, all against the Seahawks. Brady took one more knee and it was done.

Final score was 28-24 and Super Bowl XLIX was historyAnd the GREATEST SUPER BOWL - EVAH!
