Your RIGHT To Vote

Early voting began last Monday, October 21 in Florida. According to WESH-2 News, the TV station which serves Central Florida, it is reporting that local counties are reporting higher than normal, record turnout and long lines, thus far.

As one who is working in one of the districts set up in Lake County, Florida, I can attest to this.

As of yesterday, we had run almost 7,000 voters through our machines for the seven days prior to today. When we opened on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the line seemed not to end for the first two hours. Thereafter, it was steady to busy all day. We never had a lull.

We had many first-time voters, mostly young people. But in several instances, we had several people as old as sixty or more who had never found the time or interest to vote. Ever.

I have provided you with the official tally/stats as provided by WESH-2 for your review, as of 2:30 PM today from the various counties’ Supervisors of Elections. You will agree that this election is proving to be the most consequential election in many, many years.

It may behoove you to make sure you vote early, since Election Day is sure to be a mad house at YOUR local polling location.

And when the dust settles next week, you will be able to take pride and credit for having done your part in promoting our most sacred right the right to vote as YOU wish.
