McDonald's is just the latest legacy fast food chain affected by an outbreak of listeria or E coli.
Last month, it was Boars Head cold cuts, until it was discovered in the plant which made liverwurst. Earlier this year, BrucePac Chicken, Costco Smoked salmon, chicken and frozen waffles, and BrightFarms salad and spinach kits.
YUM! Brands, which is the parent company of Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut, also pulled the onions off the menu due to precautions concerning the processed onions it uses, until the FDA completes its investigations.
It was not nationwide, but when it happened, we were not aware that each outbreak was in a different region of the country.
Yet, we were on guard to make sure we each were not affected until it was specifically determined. But it makes us question the sanitary conditions of every food processing plant and their procedures to protect our food supply.
After a few days of worry, Fox Business reported that McDonald’s was given an all-clear approval this afternoon. It was a regional issue in the western United States which affected only the quarter pound burgers. So far.
Makes you begin to wonder if some entity is trying to poison our foods. Yes?
Considering much of our food is now processed in other countries, we know they don’t necessarily follow our country’s Department of Agriculture and FDA guidelines. And yet, we continue to allow this.
Perhaps, it is time to bring it all back home to make sure those guidelines are enforced.
