First, after several attempts to restore order and asked Representative Al Green to maintain a sense of decorum, to no avail, Speaker Johnson ordered the Sergeant-At-Arms to escort Rep Green from the chamber. He then issued a blanket warning to the attendees that any further rude outbursts would be handled the same way.
Then, Democrats showed their displeasure by sitting on their hands, occasionally cat-calling the President a liar as he cited his accomplishments in the first few weeks of his Administration. Or they would hold up pre-made signs to protest.
But then, he would call them out for the failures of the previous administration which they approved. And pointed at them as he recited them.
It was shocking to see the stone-cold silence from the Democrats when he honored the victims’ families who lost their children, or other family members, to violent crimes committed by illegal criminals. So heartless, so cruel, so inhumanly unsympathetic.
When he introduced the thirteen-year-old boy who survived brain cancer and made him an honorary Secret Service Agent, because his dream was to be a police officer, they showed antipathy as Trump praised the boy for surviving his deadly disease. Even the lunatics, Wallace and Maddow on MSNBC, showed their contempt.
As Trump spoke, Democrats would continuously walk out, yelling an epitaph of displeasure as they did so. He called them out even as they stirred uncomfortably when he mentioned RFKJ’s name, saying, “You would think they would applaud at the name ‘Kennedy’. Sorry Bobby.”
Once the speech was over, the Dems made a mad dash for the exits, as if they would miss the last Metro or taxi. They couldn’t wait to leave fast enough.
Hypocritically, Democrat women wore pink as a color of "power and protest" in a statement by Representative Teresa Leger-Fernández, who said Congress members are protesting increased costs, tariffs, funding cuts for women's health research and domestic violence survivors, among other plans. But not because men and boys took over female bathrooms, lockerrooms and sports.
Then, as Trump cited the waste, fraud and abuse, Democrats sat silently, occasionally trying to snicker their disain for the amount of fraud which has been uncovered, thus far. But when Trump mentioned the billions of dollars spent to support Ukraine, when Senator Elizabeth Warren stood to applaud, he mocked her as she enthusiastically continued to applaud and said, “Pocahontas apparently approves.”
Silence came from that side of the chamber even as President Trump read a letter from Ukraine's President Zelenskyy, saying he is ready right now to sign the rare earth minerals agreement, as originally negotiated, as soon as possible. But the Democrats displayed their displeasure on this issue too, as if they wanted the war to continue even though the participants don't.
So, the Democrats managed to disgrace themselves majestically for the entire nation to see. It appears the Democrats in the Congress do not care about the issues which concern most Americans.
All in all, it proved to be a great night for President Trump and an embarrassing evening for Democrats.
