Apparently, he did not get the news that HE wasn’t the Prime Minister of Canada. Ford has also threatened to cut off the exports entirely.
So, what happens? Today, President Trump responded by announcing that as of tomorrow, he ordered an additional 25% tariff on Canadian steel and aluminum imports, bringing the total to 50% on these products.
Trump also demanded that Canada eliminate its 250% to 390% tariff on American dairy products.
“I will shortly be declaring a National Emergency on Electricity within the threatened area. This will allow the U.S to quickly do what has to be done to alleviate this abusive threat from Canada,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“If other egregious, long time Tariffs are not likewise dropped by Canada, I will substantially increase, on April 2nd, the Tariffs on Cars coming into the U.S. which will, essentially, permanently shut down the automobile manufacturing business in Canada.”
Maybe, it is time for the new Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, to tell old Dougie here to sit down and shut up before he causes the Carney era to collapse Canada into a permanent depression two days into his rule.
Canada will NOT be able to battle the US in a trade and tariff war and be successful. Presently, the only two people in Canada who seem to see the Bigger Picture are Conservative Party leader, Pierre Poilievre and Alberta Premier, Danielle Smith. Both have walked away from the Liberal Party anti-Trump mantra of Trudeau and Ford.
It is incumbent on Canada’s Liberal Party to stop rattling its marshmallow tariff sword before it causes the final meltdown of what is left of Canada’s gooey economy. And then, what? The US will HAVE to annex it from its own demise.
That will be its end for sure. Or move up the October election to get its sanity back now.
Because the present Canadian leadership is definitely insane.
