But it isn’t all good news. Sadly, the 21-year-old New Jersey native will be the only living hostage in the next release, which will include the bodies of four dual nationals who died in captivity, the terror group said, as negotiations forged ahead on the second phase of a cease-fire deal with Israel.
The Trump administration has been pushing for his release as a “top priority.”
“Edan Alexander is very important to us, as all the hostages are, but Edan Alexander is an American, and he’s injured, so he’s a top priority for us,” Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff said just last week.
But patience is wearing thin as Hamas continues to drag its feet in its agreement to continue its release of the remaining hostages. And Israel is poised to breech the border of Gaza if this slow-walk continues.
And who can blame them, other than the anti-Semitic sympathizers of Hamas, both here and around the world. The actions of Hamas have been barbaric, inhuman and cruel. But their supporters find a myriad of excuses for the Hamas leadership.
The US, Qatar and Egypt have been trying to bridge differences between the terror group and Israel to restart negotiations in order to release the remaining hostages held in Gaza and facilitate the entry of aid into the war-torn enclave. But the sands in the hourglass are beginning to fade. FAST.
It may be not much longer until we see the IDF march through Gaza City and the entire strip to get the rest of the hostages. And the result of that may be a bloodbath.
And Israel will be justified as much as anyone to save the remaining victims of the atrocity which Hamas brought upon itself.
