Apparently, Mexican President, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, considered the impact of tariffs on her country, and decided to exercise the reasonableness that Prime Minister Trudeau doesn’t seem to have. Presidents Trump and Sheinbaum have both suspended enacting tariffs and both have seen the positives in negotiation further.
USA Today and Newsmax, as well as other outlets, are reporting that tariffs will be suspended for thirty days. Meanwhile, the US will prevent weapons from traveling into Mexico, while Mexico sends 10,000 troops to its northern border to stop the flow of drugs and illegals into the US.
It's
actually a win for both sides as diplomats from each country negotiate a long-term agreement, while not impacting trade or each economy. Reasonableness. Makes sense, yes?
As for Canada, President Trump is expected to have another phone call with the Canadian Prime Minister. As for now, Trump is displaying a hope that Trudeau will swallow his pride and realize it is in Canada’s best interest to agree to secure its border.
“Canada doesn’t even allow U.S. Banks to open or do business there,” Trump posted. “What’s that all about? Many such things, but it’s also a DRUG WAR, and hundreds of thousands of people have died in the U.S. from drugs pouring through the Borders of Mexico and Canada.”
Trump has made it clear he isn’t interested in a trade war, despite Trudeau’s false impression. It is all about securing the borders with both countries to stop the flow of drugs and illegals.
He made that extremely clear during his campaign and since his re-election. Trudeau is displaying a petulant attitude to negotiate on very simple grounds.
It will be only HIS fault if the tariffs are enforced.
