Taking Away a Former President’s Access to Information

It has been customary for Presidents to provide security clearance and daily intelligence briefings to their predecessors. And this was done until 2021, when Joe Biden revoked Donald Trump's clearance and briefing access.

The former president set the precedent when he barred Trump from receiving access to the same briefings four years ago, citing Trump’s “erratic behavior.”

So, as it has been reported by many media outlets, President Trump announced he is following the new norm, by revoking Biden’ access and clearance.

It may seem petty and childish to some, but the man didn’t remember he signed an executive order to ban liquid natural gas exports in Louusiana. And remember, this is the President who defeated Medicare.

There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information,” Trump wrote. “Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings.”

When asked why, he answered, “Because I don’t trust him. He’s not worthy of trust … To safeguard national security.”

President Trump doesn’t need Biden around to help him out. Biden could not help HIMSELF out during most of his term. And doesn’t even remember a lot of it.

So it is probably in our national security interests in the long run that President Trump took this action where Biden’s access is revoked. For all potential leaks by a man with dementia.

And we can rest easier knowing Joe Biden will not be able to blab secrets to anyone else.
