It was revealed today that Costco, Trader Joe and other grocery stores have responded to this crisis by finally limiting the number of eggs one can purchase per day, to prevent hardboiled hoarding. This practice was applied during COVID when the supply of toilet paper became a problem due to inordinate selfishness on the part of some.
Now, it will be instituted to prevent people from scrambling to buy eggs.
CNN is reporting that Trader Joe is limiting purchases to one dozen per day per customer, while Costco has limited purchase ls to three packages per day per customer. Costco typically sells in two dozen or four dozen cartons.
Kroger has indicated that there is no poaching being applied nationally, but limits are being placed regionally based on availability. Aldi and Lidl have not yet made any announcements on their policies.
We know this has been caused by the outbreak of avian flu. Previously, Biden had authorized destruction of many hens to prevent the spread. Talk about choking a chicken!
Once the outbreak has subsided, prices and supplies will stabilize, and the crisis will end.
In the meantime, keep your sunnyside outlook up.
