The Magic Italians Enjoy With Saint Joseph

Since the beginning of February, if not before, we have seen many posts across social media by Italian bakeries and Italian families making Zeppole di San Giuseppe, or St Joseph Cake, honoring the Feast of St Joseph, Jesus' adopted father, which is celebrated on March 19. This holiday is also known as Father's Day in Italy.

Generally, this treat is featured all through the Lenten Season, along with Hot Cross buns right through Easter Sunday. Then, unlike hot cross buns, they will continue to sold all year in Italian pastry shops, though they will not be the featured dessert.

Instead, cannoli, cream puffs, tarts and other delectable treats will be sold equally, along with cookies, cakes and donuts. All wonderful delights.

These pastries come filled with either custard or cannoli cream, and decorated with a cherry, an orange candied fruit slice, sprinkles, or other sweet topping. In most cases, powdered sugar is added, if desired.

The tradition is rooted in the Middle Ages in Sicily, where a severe drought threatened famine. After locals prayed to St Joseph for rain, the rain arrived, leading to a vow to honor him with a feast that included these special pastries.

The word zeppola may derive from zeppa (a wooden wedge or shim), linking the pastry to St. Joseph, who was a carpenter. Another legend says he sold fritters to support his family while fleeing to Egypt.

Whether or not the legends are true, one must admit it is like tasting Sweet Heaven exploding in your mouth. Many people actually close their eyes while  imagining a joyful moment, wishing it would last.

So, no matter if you are Italian, or sometimes, wonder why all the fuss when we enjoy this treat, it in your best interest to head down to your local Italian pastry shop and get yours before I do. And sit back and taste what Heaven will be like

Why Democrats Need To End Their Failing Shutdown

Whether you support the Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) agency or not, apparently Senator Schmuck Schumer and the Senate Democrats have, once again, shut down the government over an issue which has been funded through 2029.

Instead, the shutdown over DHS funding is impacting the Department's funding for all its agencies EXCEPT Border Security and ICE. TSA, the Coast Guard, FEMA,  Cyber Security, the Secret Service and other agencies within the department are impacted.

The impact has affected airport security, help for those looking for relief from natural disasters, like weather, fire, floods and other losses, interruption of internet and other cyber-related services and maintaining security for industries like fishing, sailing and currency protection against counterfeiting, and other functions.

Most of the current shutdown  impacts the daily lives of Americian citizens, you know, VOTERS, who will choose the entire House of Representative and one-third of the Senate in November. This will play out as a a bad strategy for Schumer and his cronies if it continues into the Spring and Summer.

And considering that the display of Democrats in attendance at the recent State of the Union address, when President Trump asked Members of Congress to stand if they supported American citizens, and Democrats remained seated, it was a visual display of the disdain they have for us. Nothing they could say would erase that image.

So, ultimately, their shutdown over ICE is beginning to backfire against the Democrats, especially since the shutdown does not affect ICE and CBP funding for another four years. Even after the reassignment of Former Secretary Kristi Noem to another position, which was a serious concern, seems to be a non-starter.

It appears that Schumer and his cohorts are acting like spoiled children who have picked up their  marbles (or lost them) because they aren't getting their way. Such petulance!

With the rise of the threat of domestic terrorism, as witnessed by the terrorist attacks this past weekend at Gracie Mansion in New York, and the terrorism on a Southwest Airlines flight which made an emergency landing in Atlanta, should make all of us protest against the continued stupidity by the Democrats to stop with their failed tantrums. And do their damned jobs by stopping their childish crap.

And finally stand up and work with President Trump and their Republican counterparts to work for the AMERICAN people they were elected to represent.

Or risk becoming a party which could join the Whigs in the pile of  failed American political parties.

What Time Is It?

 

Daylight Savings Time is upon us once again. Whether you love it or hate it, we know it signifies the ending of winter.

And what a winter we had! Snow, cold, wind felt in all parts of the country. Two major snow storms in the Northeast. Along with record-setting cold temperatures all through the country, including Florida. Joined by higher than normal winds and gusts 

But; today it is 64* in New York, 86* in Central Florida, 65* in Dallas, 87* in Los Angeles and 56* in Chicago. Seems so long ago, like two weeks ago. we complained how cold it was!

Not TODAY!

Instead, we had sunrise well after 7:30 this morning and we will have sunset at almost 8PM in some parts of America. Saweet!! 

Yes. While we are going ro soon enjoy some really nice days, soft breezes and beautiful, later sunsets, we will eventually get some hotter, more humid temperatures. And we will complain about those.

However, on those days, unlike the days we had in January and February, when we could not get warm, we will be able to to cool ourselves off in the pool, the air conditioning or under a sprinkler to find our comfort level. And remember how cold we were in February.

So, Happy Daylight Savings and all that is to come over the next seven months or so. And know that right after Halloween, we get to change the clocks, again.

The Time. It just keeps on moving along.

The Great Anti-Freedom Appeasers

In September, 1938, after watching Adolph Hitler continue to dismantle Europe in his quest to achieve Nazi dominance over the continent, British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain met with the Nazi dictator in Munich to resolve the “Sudetenland” problem, which Hitler claimed as German within Czechoslovakia. His stated goal was to “free oppressed Germans” held captive within that country.

After meeting in Munich on September 29 and 30, Hitler, Mussolini, Daladier and Chamberlain signed the agreement, while Czechoslovak representatives were excluded. Chamberlain returned to London with the signed agreement, believing he was successful to stop Hitler in his tracks.

​He was quoted as saying, "My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time".

On October 1, Nazi forces began occupying the contested area, and within weeks, all of Czechoslovakia was absorbed into Nazi Germany. Less than one year later, Germany attacked Poland on September 1, 1939 and World War II had begun.

Until now, he was known as the "Appeaser-In-Chief" for his conduct leading into WWII.

Now, he is finally removed from his sole ignominious place in history and has been joined by Senator Chuck Schumer and the Democrat Party for continuing to attempt to prevent President Trump from freeing Iran from the grip of the modern-day Nazi Party, the IRGC. And this is after we all witnessed  that tyrannical, Islamist regime killing over 30,000 of its own citizens since December 28.

In his speech, Schumer slammed Secretary Hegseth for appearing "gleeful about going to war" following US-Israeli strikes on Iran. Schumer argued this language is not how a responsible military leader speaks and proceeded to call for the Senate to pass a resolution enforcing the War Powers Act.

He also pushed for the Senate to pass an additional resolution to the War Powers Act, ensuring Congress retains its constitutional role in authorizing conflict.

However, he ignored that all Presidents since the Act was  passed in 1973 have incurred military action WITHOUT asking the Congress to micromanage their actions, since, while complying with the guidelines within the Act; each President has considered the Act Unconstitutional and in violation of Article II, Section 2, as Commander-In-Chief.

But. He conveniently ignored the reasons why Israel and the US attacked Iran: That country has fomented terror throughout the region for forty-seven years, has ignored continued world-wide protests in its quest to become a nuclear force, has indiscriminately killed  Americans, Israelis and others without regard to life, and of course, the brutality the Ayatollah and his henchmen foisted on the Iranian opposition to his cruelty.

All to appease and pander to the Socialists, Marxists, Neo-Nazis and Islamists who have captured the party of JFK and Truman, the last Democrat Presidents who actually loved our country. And wanted ALL people in ALL nations to live with the freedoms WE cherish and take for granted.

Thus, the Senator joins Chamberlain as the purveyors of international folly to appease those who wish to deny freedom to others, while he pays lip service to "world peace". What a fool not to recognize how history repeats itself when stupidity overtakes common sense!

It is time for Schumer and his pro-Islamist wing of a once-proud party to join Chamberlain and his pro-Nazi wing of his party into the dustbin of history.

Where all losers who oppose freedom and liberty belong.

When Will the Gilgo Beach Victims Get Justice?

A name we haven't seen lately in the news is alleged serial killer, Rex Heuermann. We thought he was done and over.

The accused Gilgo Beach serial killer contacted at least SIXTY sex workers more than 500 times in the four years leading up to his 2023 arrest, prosecutors alleged in a Tuesday court filing that provides the most detailed account of the case against the Massapequa Park resident to date.

Heuermann’s "modern day use of burner phones to patronize prostitutes is probative ... of [his] modus operandi," Assistant Suffolk County District Attorney Andrew Lee wrote in the motion filed Tuesday.

The filing comes as prosecutors faced a court-imposed deadline to respond to a defense motion seeking to suppress evidence at trial, including search warrants used to obtain cellphone and email data for accounts Heuermann allegedly created in the years after his alleged crimes. Heuermann, 62, of Massapequa Park, is set to stand trial in September for seven killings he is alleged to have committed between 1993 and 2010.

Lead Heuermann defense attorney Michael Brilown, of Central Islip, said he had not yet had an opportunity to fully review the district attorney’s response, which was submitted to the court minutes before the close of business Tuesday, and he declined to comment late Tuesday night.

Prosecutors ultimately argued that State Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei should deny all nine suppression requests Heuermann made in a January 13 filing.

Lost in all this legal gamesmanship by both the defense and prosectors are the rights of the dead victims. The defense is claiming the rights of Heuermann are paramount, while the prosecution is fighting to get the trials over and done.

And sadly, after that is said and done, thirteen girls (at least) are still dead. And no amount of court fighting over Heuerman's constitutional rights will bring ny of them back.

Or give peace to those the deceased left behind.

I wonder how quickly Michael Brown would be fighting for Heuermann if he killed any of HIS family?

It isn't circumstantial evidence which is being argued. Heuermann's DNA was found on several victims.

The Elusive Blood Moon

Those of us who set our clocks to wake up early this morning were witness to a sight we will not see again in the United States until December 31, 2028.

The "Blood Moon" is a total Lunar Eclipse which occurs when Earth moves directly between the sun and the moon, casting a shadow on the satellite’s surface and causing it to appear crimson, according to NASA.

This eclipse is the last of three consecutive total lunar eclipses, said Dr C Alex Young, associate director for science communication in the heliophysics science division at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. The first of these total lunar eclipses occurred in March, 2025 and the second took place last September.

It was certainly one to behold for essentially one-third of the Earth's population, as it was seen in North and South America, the Pacific Islsnds, Australia and a large swath of Asia. 

Even when it is not a blood moon, the March full moon goes by many names, which can reflect seasonal changes or animals, according to the Farmers Almanac. Some of these are the "worm moon" and the "snow crust  moon".

This year, sky-gazers will get to see two full moons in May, making thirteen full moons for the year. Because a full moon happens every 29.5 days and most months are longer than that, sometimes two full moons occur in one month, creating the "blue moon" phenomenon roughly every two and one-half years. But it does not actually turn blue.

So make your plans now for New Year's Eve in 2028 and get ready to celebrate the next time you will see the next  beautiful blood moon.

A New Chapter in US-Cuba Relations?

​For most of us, we have never really known a Cuban government which allowed relations with the United States to truly defrost. Prior to January 1, 1959, Cuba had a dictatorial government which allowed US businesses to operate provided that a costly “vig” was paid  directly to the Fulgencio Batista government.

And prior to Batista, the Cuban government was deep into graft with all sorts of criminal enterprises for its  own gain and not for any benefit for the Cuban people. This was revealed in many “entertainment” outlets in books and movies, most notably The Godfather.

Hence, the Cuban Revolutions throughout the 1950s led by Dr Fidel Castro and others.

We all know about the Bay of Pigs fiasco and the Cuban Missile Crisis which occurred during the Kennedy Administration. And subsequently, until 2015, when President Obama tried to normalize relations, this island ninety miles from Key West was essentially a true adversary.

Many Cubans have come to the US to live freely, giving much to this country, but wishing for the same freedoms for the countrymen they left behind.

Now, it is possible to see those dreams to come true. Especially in light of the fall of the Maduro regime in Venezuela.

For over sixty-five years, the Soviet Union, and then Russia, had been the Cuban government’s “protector” and sponsor, militarily and economically to prop up the Cuban government. But the cost to Russia to continue this relationship has proven costly, and impossible, as it continues to fight its war with Ukraine.

As well, the Chavez and Maduro regimes in Venezuela provided economic assistance in exchange for Cuban intelligence capabilities and other benefits. But no longer.

Curiously, we saw the Cuban government fire on an American fishing boat with no response by the US government. The battle is discussed among other issues in Saturday’s  Miami Herald and other media sources. Then, when asked about it, President Trump would only say, “They’re talking with us, and maybe we’ll have a friendly takeover of Cuba.”

And in light of other recent developments with Iran, and by extension, China and Russia, we may bear witness to a major shift in US-Cuba relations. 

It would be a huge foreign policy accomplishment by President Trump. Time will tell, for sure.

The Justification to Help Free Persia From An Intolerable Yoke of Opression

​If one looks at the “Big Picture” with a discerning eye for fairness and humanity, you would agree that what happened in Iran yesterday was done for the good for ALL the oppressed people in Iran. Surgically, with a real goal to protect the women and men who are ordinary citizens.

One with a brain, with the ability to see  that reasoning would be able to make the distinction.

But for those blinded with anti-Israeli, anti-Semitic hatred, or raging, incurable Trump Derangement Syndrome, those irrational mindsets are too overwhelming and too difficult to overcome.

You will find either of these mental illnesses prevalent in many Democrats, with the likes of Mayor Mamdani, Minority Leader Jeffries, Senator Schumer and Governor Newsom, among others, But you will also find all rampant in the “Hollyweird Glitterari” like Mark Ruffalo, Jane Fonda, John Cusack and Rosie O’Donnell.

While we in America believe in our right of Free Speech, to say what is on one’s mind, we also agree that we should ignore those who speak from their mental illness. 

Apparently, these individuals are so close-minded with their diseases, they are unable to recognize that the attacks on Iran were NOT against the Iranian people, who implored President Trump  to free them from the misery of the oppressive regime who have made their quality of decent, humane life intolerable. Instead, it was an answer to their supplication to liberate them from an intolerable life which offered little hope for everything WE take for granted.

You know, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

We are about to celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary of OUR freedoms from what our ancestors felt was Absolute Tyranny. And they were helped by those people who agreed that THEIR cause was just.

How could America AND Israel, two countries founded with the beliefs that ALL people should be free to chose their own destinies, stand by and ignore those who beseeched us to help them achieve the same? The leaders of these two countries, Trump and Netanyahu, heard those pleas and answered no matter what would happen to their own reputations.

Because they knew it was RIGHT!

As for those countries who saw what was happening and did nothing to help the people of Iran, when you saw and heard the conditions they lived under, you are now in no position to judge. You have earned only enmity of the oppressed for your silence and inaction.

Soon, the people of Iran will be free of the yoke of the Islamic Republic and will once live in a free Persia, which gave the world so much and will roar again with the Heart of the Lion.

It can’t come soon enough.

Will the Regime Meet Its Deserved End??

​In a stunning, but not unexpected move, the US and Israel made good on their promises to the oppressed people of Iran to remove the demonic and barbaric dictators who stole their freedoms forty-seven years ago. 

After months of negotiations by the US, only to be driven to exasperation by the Mullahs and their IRGC stooges, the time for tolerance of the delay tactics the IRGC employed to test the patience of the entire world, finally ran out.

Apparently, the terrorists which ruled Iran with impunity did not believe President Trump would come to the aid of the Iranian people. They continued to torture and massacre those who opposed the regime, believing no one would come to their aid.

Much like his predecessors, Obama and Biden.

So many nations fretted over the potential outcome of the ongoing cruelty, but stood by and did nothing to stop the regime from attacking their own people. And now, when the US and Israel followed through on the promises each made, the first countries to call for emegency meetings with the inept UN are the United Kingdom and France.

In addition, in a Telegram statement, Russia's Foreign Ministry condemned the attack on Iran as “a preplanned and unprovoked act of armed aggression against a sovereign and independent UN member state.”  The People’s Republic joined in a call for an immediate end to hostilities.

Coincidentally, Congressional Democrats and their press agents in American media are calling for President Trump to stand down and return to the negotiation table. Are you surprised?

Rather than stand for freedom and liberty for the Iranian people, the Democrats, the LSM and many countries want to continue to allow the current rulers a free rein to continue with their evil. All with false indignation. While the Iranian people would continue to suffer.

At the present time, it is certain Ayatollah Ali Khamanei was killed in the first wave of attack. And many key leaders of his regime are meeting with their Maker to discuss their final judgement and eternal sentence.

It is not yet certain whether this will be a long conflict or one which could come to an early end.  But certainly, the support for American troops in harm’s way is paramount. It should be the first order of business which guides your conscience.

The IRGC and the current Iranian regime is the modern-day equivalent to that which tried to obliterate Europe during the era of Adolph Hitler and his Nazi Party, causing many deaths in World War II. The tactics are the same. And the world would be better off once it was gone.

Since January, 1979, the world has dealt with an Iran which has brought terror to its neighbors in the Muslim world, to Israel through its proxies Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis, and many other nations, including the United States. Now finally, the terror it caused will  hopefully and mercifully come to an end, while the legitimate leadership returns to transition Iran to a normalized and civil society once again.

Unlike the endless wars which began the twenty-first century, the goal now is to give the Iranian people a chance to reclaim their country from those evil and demonic thieves who stole their long-standing, respected and peaceful country from them. They just needed the chance.

They learned that the government they enjoyed under the Shah before it was ripped away by those who brought harm was a truly benevolent society with so many liberties and freedoms to live their lives with peace. As we enjoy, take for granted and should appreciate here in America.

May the next few days, or weeks, bring the promise of  liberty and freedom to the Iranian people to enjoy forever, and bring peace to the entire region which has lived so long under the threat and brutality of violence. And may God Bless the United States and Israel for keeping their promises to the Iranian people. 

The Wrecking Crew Finally Is Recognized

​Those of us of a certain age grew up listening to the greatest music ever to have been played and enjoyed by so many. We could not believe that we were privy to some of the best musicians ever to grace the varied genres of the art ever.

But we were wrong.

Other than the Beatles and Rolling Stones, and perhaps a few others, the music credited to the front men and women of those great songs was actually played by the same unknown men and women with the credit they truly deserved. And did not get until much later.

We all know that the Monkees were a result of actors playing musicians in a television show. Certainly, they could all sing, even write some of their own songs. And perhaps, over time, they learned to play the instruments they pretended to play each week for several years.

Instead, the music was played by a group of session musicians aptly named, The Wrecking Crew. They were all accomplished musicians which played on the records of not only the Monkees, but also on some of the greatest artists of the 60s and 70s.

You would be surprised to learn that they were the music we enjoyed credited to the Beach Boys, the Carpenters, the Tijuana Brass, the Association, both Frank and Nancy Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis, the Mamas and Papas, Simon and Garfunkel, the Ronettes, Sonny and Cher, the Shirelles, Ricky Nelson, Jackson Five, Michael Jackson, and countless others. There was no harm to these musicians as they were paid very well for their talents, although they did not get the recognition or credit they deserved at the time.

Key members included drummer Hal Blaine, guitarist Tommy Todesco, bassist Carol Kaye and keyboardist Leon Russell. Other members included Plas Jackson, Glen Campbell, Bill Pitman, Steve Douglas and Lew McCreary.

Producers like Herb Alpert, Lou Adler, Phil Spector, Richard Carpenter, Brian Wilson, Lionel Ritchie, Jerry Moss, Quincy Jones and Todd Rundgren used the same Wrecking Crew members consistently.

And when you watch the TV shows of the time, the theme songs of Bonanza, The Dating Game, Batman, The Monkees, MASH,  Get Smart, Hawaii 5-0, Green Acres, Mission:Impossible, and Twilight Zone feature their music. The same is found in the movies like The Pink Panther, Viva Las Vegas,  Midnight Cowboy, Romeo and Juliet, A Little Less Conversation,  MASH (again) and many others.

So when you listen to the 60s; 70s and even 80s music, and the varied styles of music being played, remember that these were the men and women who created some of the best music ever. And while the credit was given to those who fronted that music, they never would have been noticed or succeeded without those people who backed them. 

There was a little-remembered documentary called The Wrecking Crew which was released in 2008 with some of the many members of legendary Wrecking Crew who reminenced with us giving their perspectives of the time they lived, and played, with fondness of their experiences. It is an enjoyable discovery of how we all enjoyed the greatest music of our time.

It was a well-worth one hundred one minutes which brought back how wonderful that music really was. And it was done before it had even begun.

Take the time to watch it on Netflix or Tubi and learn how it all was produced. For so many generations to enjoy.

An Alternative Guide For Spring Break 2026

As you consider your Spring Break destination this year, it might be wise if you cross Acapulco and Cancun off your desired dream spots. It has become increasingly risky to take that trip “south of the border, down Mexico way.”

It would be in your best interest to find a place you always wanted to see, right here in the good old USA.

Travellers have begun canceling their spring break plans to Mexico after cartel violence engulfed Puerto Vallarta following the killing of the country’s most brutal drug lord “El Mencho” last weekend, according to a top travel security expert.

The violence could even impact the World Cup this summer, with games scheduled for Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco, and the home base of El Mencho’s Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), William Ruiz, Senior Security Manager for Latin America at International SOS.

“My advice is if the spring break destination is in those affected areas, and they already have the tickets purchased, they should strongly reconsider the travel plan for now, until officially informed that the security environment has improved significantly,” Ruiz said.

Sounds pretty reasonable. Yes? Perhaps this would be a good year to visit spot closer to your home. A place where you don’t need expensive airline tickets or immunizations.

There is so much to see all across this beautiful country of ours. Some examples include Historical Williamsburg, our newly safe Nation’s Capital, Pennsylvania Dutch Country in Lancaster, PA, the Alamo, the Grand Canyon, or even the Disney Parks in California and Florida.

If you are looking for a more wintry view, think about the snow-filled Northeast. Nature even filled in many of those locations this past weekend.

The point is to keep your family and yourself safe this season. So much better for your wallet and your peace of mind, for sure.

And you help to keep our economy in a much more robust chance to continue its rebound from the last few years of decline. Why give your hard-earned dollars to businesses who don’t really care about you, when you can help grow American businesses!

These are all valid points to consider as you plan to get a few days away from your winter doldrums. And stay safe in the process.

And soon enough, you will be looking forward to planning for that hard-earned summer vacay. With a few extra bucks in your pocket.

A Testament to Champions

Forty-six years. Almost a half century. So many things to consider with numbers of years between events of history.

For example, it was forty-four years which elapsed between Stanley Cup championships for the New York Rangers. And they are well on the way (thirty-two years) to make that number again.

Or forty years, since the New York Mets, with all their pitching history, won the World Series.

Or, forty-seven years since Iran celebrated real freedom, without the dictatorial rule of criminals, who have no problem killing the people who protest for their freedom from bullies who dress up in robes and pretend to worship God.

How about the years many of us lived through the forty-five years of the Cold War, from the end of World War II, until the Soviet Union took its last breath on Christmas Day in 1991. 

All long times, yes?

Well, this period of years is recognized and celebrated again today. It has been forty-six years since the USA last won a Gold Medal in Men's Olympic Hockey. To the day, or at least to the days. And the USA Women's team joined in the celebration by winning the Gold Medal in THEIR event two days earlier!

Neither these women or men were gleams in their parents' eyes when the USA last won the gold. In fact, some of their parents may not have been born yet either. It was so long ago.

But now, the Women showed the Men how to do it, and both teams are destined to live in History. Because of one magical week in February, 2026. 

And it is a good feeling to write something positive of a time which spans years, decades, even an almost half century to celebrate happiness for today's men and women destined to be our future. Maybe not tomorrow, but certainly within the next forty-six years.

Continue with your upward climb to succeed in all you do for the betterment of all yet to come. And may your next forty-six years be better than what came before.

A Girl Who Found Her Joy and Wants to Have Fun

So many of us are always searching for the joy in our lives and find it a struggle to achieve. Sadly, so many of of us fail.

We were witness on Thursday, February 19, 2026, when we saw Joy unrevealed to us in the person of twenty-year-old Alysa Liu, when she skated in Milan with abandon, not caring if she won her routine. She only wanted to have fun, as most real girls always want.

And she succeeded to her most "funnest" way: she skated with abandon and won the Gold Medal in the process 

Her goal was to go out to the ice to have fun, not caring if she won. She said this many times before she competed. And she did.

Her face and demeanor revealed it when she went out there; not caring what the audience, and the world, thought. She was not nervous or tense, as other skaters appeared. She smiled a joyful smile, relaxed in her approach, skating like it was only fun for which she was searching.

And for seven or so minutes, it was only her and the ice, along with Donna Summer's version of MacArthur Park which mattered to her. It showed as she was flawless, joyfully skating to HER routine, in HER costume of choice, after she came back from an early retirement following her performance after the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

Her story actually begins in 1989, before she was even born, when her father left for the United States, following his escape from the People's Republic, due to his involvement in the Tianneman Square uprising and protest. But she learned early on that it was America which gave her the opportunity to freely achieve all she wanted. Without government interference.

She showed her inner joy as she wrapped herself in the American flag afterward, sharing her joy with teammates and competitors alike. That joy seeped into all who came into contact with her in the arena that night. Without jealously or bitterness. Only with a similar joy they felt from her to all of them.

Some have criticized her hair, her costume choice, her music, all to no concern by her. She doesn't care; she is only out to have fun. And Joy.

So, thank you, Alysa, for showing us all how to find our Joy, as you have found yours. And Girl, you continue to have Fun!

The Anomoly of February Weather

Once again, Mother Nature has decided to show us that She will decide the next few days of weather across the country and laughs at the "experts" that climate change is the cause. 

Of course, we can all agree that the earth has warmed globally by ONE WHOLE DEGREE since the late nineteenth century; however, if you recall, the earth also experienced a mini-ice age for the previous four hundred or so years. It proves weather is cyclical.

Nevertheless, this weekend will show us who is in charge: the climatologists or Mother Nature!

Yes, in central Florida, it will be sunny, with a mid-February humidity of 55% to 60%, with a minimal chance for rain and a temperature in the mid 80s. Conversely, New York, Long Island and other parts of the Northeast will be subject to a Blizzard Warning, with temperatures in the 20s and maybe the low 30s, with snow accumulations projected from 10 to 24 inches. Or maybe even more.

But, that is February in the winter. Not climate change.

And surprisingly, it is the way Mother Nature heals the earth. The Long Island region is presently experiencing a bit of a drought as the area heads toward its spring growing season. Getting two feet of snow in one wallop will result in approximately four inches of needed water. This will make a huge impact on a drought.

So, for those of you in the Northeast, sit back and enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature's last vestiges of winter as the snow falls across the lawns and roads to bring her beauty to the fore. And for the kids who enjoyed the February mid-winter break, you will probably get a bonus day to extend the break, as schools will be closed for at least one more day. If not more.

Soon enough, March will arrive with its own weather anomolies, leaving this weekend snowstorm as a fond memory. And then suddenly, Spring and Summer will be upon us once again.

Just stay safe as Mother Nature shows us all who really is in charge.

The Short-Term Stop Sign On Tariffs

Today, the Supreme Court put up a stop sign on the Trump Tariffs. It was not unexpected by anyone,  including President Trump, who understood the concept of separation of powers as defined by the Constitution.

In fact, the stock markets reacted as if the decision was expected with the ho-hum reaction it received, by not reacting with an explosive buy or sell-off to panic anyone.

DUMBOCRATS, like Hiccup Jeffries and Schmuck Schumer are celebrating the decision as a victory in their opposition to Trump, while not recognizing that he has other options to continue his current focus to drive forward the American economy 

However... Democrats are not seeing an even bigger picture. The opinion gives relief ONLY to companies who filed as plaintiffs in the original suit. 

We all know that Presidents from both parties in the past have utilized tariffs to offset costs by other nations as we import those foreign goods. By Trump utilizing these tariffs, he was able to negotiate better trading outcomes which which had been previously penalizing American consumers.

Now, the Trump Administration and the Congress, with this ruling, will need to find a "middle ground" in order to continue the application of the tariffs. It does ONLY limit the extension of Executive power.

And ironically, while the Democrat left may be celebrating the ruling today because, in the short term it short-stops President Trump's agenda which they despise, ultimately, today's ruling also prevents a future DEMOCRAT President from utilizing tariffs without CONGRESSIONAL consent, as well. So, celebrations may not be a good image for Democrats to take.

Surely, by no means, is the discussion closed. Anyone with any intelligence can see this. In the end, a compromise will be forthcoming which will give guidance to handle tariffs in the future.

And whether it is later today, or next week when President Trump delivers his State of the Union address, you know he will have a lot to say.

Be ready for it.

Why Christians Celebrate Lent

​Today is Ash Wednesday, a day which commences the Lenten season in many Christian faiths. Each denomination interprets how it follows the  next forty days until Holy Thursday, which was the night of Jesus’ last supper with his disciples on the night before Passover.

During this time, Christians will sacrifice a pleasure one enjoys, whether it is meat, ice cream, a sweet, etc (fast), give alms, pray, and are reminded that Jesus did the same for us before He died.

Certainly, there is nothing any of us could do to achieve what was done for us by Him. But it is a worthy gesture of remembrance which we offer in His name to each other.

This period of reflection is not unheard by Jews or Muslims either. The forty-day Jewish period of reflection is dedicated to introspection, repentance (teshuvah), and reconciliation, honoring the forty days Moses spent on Mount Sinai seeking forgiveness for the Golden Calf.

The number forty holds significant spiritual weight in Islam, often representing a period of transition, purification and transformation. While specific rituals for a forty-day period are frequently cultural rather than strictly mandated by the Qur'an or Sunnah, several practices and beliefs revolve around this timeframe.

Forty is a highly significant, symbolic number in several religions besides the Abrahamic faiths. Hinduism, Zoroastorism and others also recognize this measure of time as it is generally representing a period of testing, trial, probation, or transformation. It often signifies a necessary transition, such as the forty days or years required for purification or preparing for a new beginning. 

While these periods may fall at other times in the calendar for the many faiths which exist in our human lives, it is important to remember that is a human construct to dedicate time for reflection. 

In Christendom, this period ends with a remembrance of the Crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday, and celebration of His Resurrection three days later on Easter Sunday. 

So, as we begin the Lenten season, we should reflect on how we can be a better person during the next year, being kinder to others less fortunate, and how we can dedicate ourselves to goals which may seem out of reach, but can be achieved with some extra effort. It really is not all that difficult.

After all... as many people seem to say as they challenge us, "What would Jesus do?"

The Stupidity of a Democrat Socialist Darling

“Better to sit there with your mouth shut and look stupid, than open it to remove all doubt.”

Sometimes, these old adages seem to come to the surface at just the right  time. Too bad Alexandra Ocascio-Cortez was absent when this was taught both in high school AND in college. 

But maybe, she was there and she didn’t understand that concept, as easy as most other students. Maybe, she is just dumb and likes the sound of her own voice.

Who knows? She certainly doesn’t sound smart; does she?

This weekend, she essentially proved these points with the interviews in which she participated when she showed off her best "Kacklin' Kammie" with the word salad she spoke when asked about her views on the possibility of China invading Taiwan. Apparently, she must have thought that China was going to tie one on.

Then, she showed how "smart" she was when asked about the US' recent incursion into Venezuela to capture the narco-terrorist, Maduro. She proceeded to criticize the US policy of invading countries in South America BELOW the equator. She showed that geography was not her strong point since Ecuador is south of Venezuela and is named for the country ON the equator.

But the best was when when she tried to show up SecState Rubio when in his speech, he mentioned that Spain introduced cowboys to the Western Hemisphere in Mexico. She must have forgotten or did not know the Spanish Conquistador Hernando Cortez brought horses and the Spanish language when he landed there. And words like lasso, rodeo, corral, ranchero (cowboy) originate. Oh, and to show that someone with her last name was so inconsequential to American and Western history,

For shame!

Hey, Sandy... perhaps you would be best served by avoiding these tough questions next time and instead, let someone else answer while you fix the drinks.

Maybe, you have just signaled "last call" on your political career by showing how dumb and stupid you really are,. And take the whole Democrat Socialist movement with you.

You have showed how void your brain is of anything meaningful for the last time.

Random February Musings

Looking at the calendar this morning, it was shocking to see that February was halfway done; where did the month go??

It seems that with tomorrow being Valentine's Day, we looked forward to Monday being Presidents Day, Tuesday as Fat Tuesday and suddenly, Ash Wedneday and Lent are upon us.

Can Spring be far behind?

Next Friday and Saturday, the first pitches of Spring Training will be thrown, giving us the hope for a new baseball season. All teams start off even-Steven, which all fans of their teams have hope for a better season than 2025.

All positive thoughts fill our souls, even as we recognize that today is Friday the Thirteenth. For many, people consider today as unlucky; in Italian culture, Friday the 13th is generally not considered unlucky, and the number thirteen itself is often seen as lucky. Better to think this way, yes?

February 13th is a special day for pop-culture holiday for celebrating Galentine's Day female friendships, and also for Black Love Day, National Cheddar Day, and World Radio Day, offering various ways to appreciate friends, love (platonic or romantic), and the media we consume before Valentine's Day.  

And then, finally, in March, we get to do it again. We get s second chance right away!

What a way to look at how quickly time marches on.

What Difference Does It Make?

​Here are four names where their deaths mattered and made a HUGE difference to their families, and in essence, to many people who may not have even known them. Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty. 

These men gave their lives to our country, both as dedicated Patriots while they were alive, and as the ultimate sacrificial lambs to an Administration who willfully abandoned them on September 11, 2012.

The President, the Secretary of State, and others of that malevolent Administration claimed their deaths were caused by a video which angered protesters over some perceived slight to the Islam religion. And the lying Lame Stream Media acted as Public Relations agents to sell that lie to the American people. 

And, for the most part, it worked for many years, while Obama was re-elected, Clinton was nominated, Biden fumbled through his “presidency” and these unnecessary deaths were beginning to fade into history.

Until yesterday, when Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro and several others announced  that Zubayar Al-Bakoush, an armed co-conspirator in the 2012 attack,  was charged in an eight-count indictment unsealed today in US District Court on multiple terrorism and murder counts.

“The terrorist attack on our Benghazi Embassy was a dark and tragic day for our nation that robbed us of four American heroes,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. “Now, thanks to our brave federal agents, one of its alleged key participants will be prosecuted in an American courtroom on American soil. Under President Trump’s leadership, this Department of Justice will never rest in our mission to Make America Safe Again and deliver swift, severe justice to our enemies.”

According to the indictment, Bakoush was a member of Ansar Al Sharia (AAS), an Islamist extremist militia in Benghazi, which had the goal of establishing Sharia law in Libya.

On the evening of September 11, 2012, a group of more than 20 heavily armed men, including Bakoush assembled outside the main gate of the US Special Mission in Benghazi.  They were armed with assault rifles, other firearms, and explosive devices.  At about 9:45 p.m., the group of armed men violently breached the main gate of the Mission. Upon entry, the men fanned out across the Mission complex, setting fires to building within the Mission compound.

The Department of Justice previously charged and convicted two leaders in the Benghazi attack on federal terrorism charges and other offenses. Ahmed Abu Khatallah, aka Ahmed Mukatallah was sentenced in June 2018 to 22 years in prison and resentenced in September 2024 to 28 years in prison. Mustafa al-Imam was sentenced in January 2020 to nearly 20 years.

Apparently, President Trump believes that when you FK Around you eventually Find Out. But, Hillary Clinton told us when this happened, “What difference does it make?” Which is the better policy for protecting America, Friends?

Finally, we are finding the it DOES make a difference. A HUGE ONE! These men did not die in vain.

And our President has proven it does make a difference, too. If only to Never Forget.

The Winter Doldrums Will End

​

Today, as this is written, the temperature is 24* with a windchill of 14*. Tonight, it is expected to be pretty cold, too, with windchills below zero. If that weren’t bad enough, this weekend in New York and Long Island, it is expected to reach -15*!

Brrrr. Now THAT IS COLD!!

As we have seen over the last few years, many people have moved to warmer climes to escape the winters  of Long Island and the Northeast. Many have moved to the Sunshine State in this quest, or at least have become snowbirds.

But this winter, Mother Nature played a dirty trick, and showed us all that we can’t outrun the force of weather. Instead, we are relearning that age-old lesson, “You can’t fool Mother Nature.”

No matter how hard we try.

Even in Central Florida, the best it will be is in the low sixties, and overnight temperatures in the thirties. If will gradually warm up, even in colder parts of the country by next Friday.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day. To warm your heart, at least.

A few days later, Mardi Gras and Ash Wednesday will kick off the Lenten Season and Spring Training will be upon us. 

Then, we will soon forget how the month started, leaving all the bitterness of winter in our rear view mirrors, and watch as Spring and warmer weather draw closer.

So, take heart, My Friends; it WILL get better. Just remember how tough this winter was when temperatures climb into the 90s in July, and how much you prayed it would warm up in February.

Meanwhile, stay warm and be safe.

Stopping Mamdani

The clothes are off, the mask has been tossed and the sheep costume has been shed to reveal that Mayor Mamdani has been an anti-semitic wolf all along. His smile, which won over the fools to vote for him, has turned lecherously evil to snarl at the Jewish population in New York.

Proud of yourselves? He lured you into his lair by promising undeliverable goodies to win you over, and has shown he is as evil as Yassir Arafat, but without a keffiyah.

He has already sparked controversy with City Council Speaker Julie Menin, who called for a probe Thursday into the Mayor Zohran Mamdani-led Department of Health over its “Global Oppression Working Group” and whether taxpayer funds were misused.

“Our health care officials should be fighting infectious diseases and addressing skyrocketing health care costs instead of spending public time debating geopolitics on city time,” Menin (D-Manhattan) was quoted in a speech addressing this issue.

“A thorough investigation into the use of taxpayer resources is necessary to protect the public trust and address the unacceptable rise in antisemitism across New York City.”

But, instead, Mamdani is focused on his primary agenda which has become more clear as he moves the city toward a more anti-Semitic and Socialist mirror of other American cities like Dearborn or Minneapolis. 

This is NOT what voters expected, at least those who wanted to move away from former Mayor Adams. But they were duped and will have a hellava time trying to fight FOR a traditional  New York City government.

And Governor Krazy Kat won’t do anything, either. She is in a fight to keep her job for another four years. So, no help from her.

Meanwhile, Council Member Lynn Schulman (D-Queens), the health committee chair, ripped into the politicization of the agency as fanning the flames of antisemitism. She joined with Council Speaker Menin to express her outrage.

“This incident is especially troubling given the alarming rise of antisemitism we are seeing in New York City, including multiple antisemitic acts reported in recent weeks,” Schulman said.

“Hosting a meeting that promotes inflammatory accusations while ignoring antisemitism entirely only deepens and alienates Jewish employees and residents.”

Yeah, two Jewish women trying to save the City before it is completely destroyed. Two modern-day Esthers trying to save the people from their own mistake.

But, in reality, both woman are looking to save the City before Mamdani can really start implementing his agenda. This is only the first step of his nefarious goal to achieve his Jewish-free, Marxist “utopia”.

We can champion and assist these women to save New York from its demise or it will no longer be “the Greatest City In the World.”

Democrat Obstruction Is On Full Display

​One would think Senators from both parties would have found the $2.5 BILLION overreach by the outgoing Federal Reserve Board Chair, Jerome Powell, to renovate the Fed’s DC headquarters would have bordered on lavish and excessive, if not criminal. Especially, as regular Americans were struggling during the Biden years to make ends meet.

Apparently not.

Democrat Senators are calling Senate Banking Chairman, Tim Scott (R-SC), to delay the nomination proceedings for former Federal Reserve governor Kevin Warsh, President Donald Trump's pick to be the next chair of the US central bank.

Why?

On the pretext that investigations into Lisa Cook and Powell’s alleged misdeeds should be closed.

“We demand that you delay any nomination proceedings for Mr Warsh until after the pretextual criminal investigations involving Chair Powell and Governor Cook have been closed," ranking member Elizabeth Warren and all 10 of her Dem colleagues on the committee wrote. 

Again, why?

The investigations should have no bearing on whether Mr Warsh is qualified to serve his designated position. It is a clear attempt by the “Queen of Shrill and Mean” to besmirch his reputation.

“Kevin Warsh’s nomination to the Federal Reserve has been resoundingly endorsed by business and political leaders because his academic credentials, private sector success, and experience on the Fed Board of Governors are unimpeachable," White House spokesman Kush Desai said.

"Democrats should put political games aside and prioritize the well-being of the American people who deserve to finally have confidence in Federal Reserve decision-making.”

If the Democrats had any integrity left, they would refrain from their constant attempts to serve Party over Country.  But, this is NOT the Democrat Party of JFK or Truman. Instead, this is the Schumer party of obstruction and hate for anyone not aligned with a Socialist agenda.

A sad day in modern American and Constitutional politics.

Spring Has Sprung

​

Who would have thought it would be in the 40s when Pitchers and Catchers began showing up in Port St Lucie, the Mets Training site, yesterday? And today, actually, may be only a few degrees warmer. Like in the high 50s.

It will be tough to get warmed up, even if Steve Cohen pays for stadium heaters. It has been frigid for the last couple of weeks and is not expected to achieve the “perfect” climate for Spring Training until sometime next week. Probably by February 13.

Officially, pitchers and catchers are supposed to arrive by next Wednesday, but the players looking to make a good first impression learned early on that you don’t get a second chance to make the first. And they all want to give themselves a lead in the race to make it to “the show”.

And when rookies realize that the veterans are still in the hunt for a place on the roster, it is even more incumbent on them to make that extra effort. After all, there will only be twenty-six players heading into the Opening Day festivities.

Suddenly, by Presidents Day everyone will be expected to be present when the team starts its “two-a-day” workouts. And then, by Saturday, February 21, the first pitch of 2026 at 1:10 PM will have been thrown.

Of course, some of the greatest rivalries of all time began right in "Little Old New York" with the Yankees, Giants and Dodgers, and in 1962, the Mets joined the fray. The one-time city rivalry went Coast-to-Coast, even to this day.

Perhaps, as with all new beginnings, our boys will have a better season than last. After all, with Spring, hope “springs” eternal.

Let the games begin!

Time For Another Mid-Winter Escape

​A few events are scheduled to occur between today and Sunday, February 8. Some are generally expected pretty much as annual events, and one or two are newly anticipated.

First up, of course, is the annual prognostication we have come to know as Groundhog Day. You know, where we expect a rodent to tell us how much winter and cold weather we can expect over the next six weeks. Like that logic exceeds that of the science of Meteorology.

Well, maybe it does, based on the amount of errors the “scientists” seem to make. Right?

The next event would be this coming Sunday, when all of America stops to have their Annual Day of Gluttony… uh, their Super Bowl Parties, sponsored by beer, chips, dips, and other foods we would otherwise shun for their challenge to good and healthy eating habits. 

And after we watch about half the game which follows our food-stuffing extravaganza, many of us will pass out on the couch as we become suddenly exhausted from our carb-fest.

Then, during this week, we will turn our sights on the mundane cold which seems to surprise us each year, setting new records all across the country.

Also late this coming Sunday, if all goes according to plan, we will witness the first launch of humans to the moon since the 1970s.

NASA is sending humans back on a path toward the Moon with the Artemis II mission. Launching aboard a Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, as well as Jeremy Hansen from the Canadian Space Agency, will set off to orbit the Moon on a 10-day mission. This will be the first crewed flight of the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft around the Moon. 

Their goal is to verify modern human capabilities in deep space and pave the way for long-term exploration and science on the lunar surface.

And finally, once again, some in the Congress are showing what happens when the children  in a family can’t get along. Essentially, it is like  one child picks up his marbles and storms home until he gets what he wants, as if to spite everyone else.

It is becoming too tiresome and boring to so many, that perhaps fewer people will play with that child until he finally loses all his friends. Maybe that is what it will take, when others are willing to compromise to get along most of the time. 

Not pointing fingers, but everyone knows who it is.

A Violation of Journalistic Integrity

Funny how a law written, passed and signed into law by a Democrat-controlled Congress and a Democrat President in 1994 to protect abortion clinics from protest by right-to-life groups can also be used by Christians and others when their rights are violated. Maybe it depends on whether you believe in the Democrat Church of Abortion or the Church of your religious beliefs.

The Freedom ot Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act of 1994 is a US federal law (18 USC § 248) that prohibits the use of force, threat of force, or physical obstruction to injure, intimidate, or interfere with anyone obtaining or providing reproductive health services, or exercising their right to religious freedom at a place of worship. It was enacted to protect abortion clinics and staff from violent blockades, with penalties including fines and imprisonment.

But, it also protects persons in a house of worship. Oops... the media forgot that little tidbit of information.

Don Lemon tried to claim he was a journalist when he led a group of protesters into a St Paul, Minnesota church recently, and this morning, was arrested for his role in that riot.

Of course, the usual suspects of the Lame Stream Media will come to HIS defense, claiming it is violation of his First Amendment right of Freedom of the Press. But they have already neglected to report that the protesters violated the right for people to worship freely and without interference or be placed into danger by those  who disagree with them.

People who claim to represent the Journalism industry cannot involve themselves in a cause for which they sympathize, and then HIDE behind the Freedom of the Press clause when they get caught intentionally breaking the law. Unless, of course, the media believes the law is there "for thee but not for me."

We will all find out soon how this will all play out. But to parapharase Lloyd Bentsen who once said to Dan Quayle as he compared himself to JFK, "You, Sir, are no journalist."

STOP the Defund ICE Madness

​Do you remember way back in the summer of 2020, a mere five year years ago, when another Minnesotan, George Floyd, was killed because he resisted arrest? And became a “martyr” for another liberal cause to defund the police? All because ONE police officer was overtaken by his own zealousness, prejudice or other uncontrolled emotion.

This caused unrequited racial discord that summer and for several years thereafter. Until more reasonable people took control of the narrative. 

Until recently.

Now, this month, Minnesota is once again the focus of uncontrolled protests, led by the same Governor, Tim Walz, who seems to conveniently forget he swore to uphold the laws of the United States and the Constitution, to instead lead the new call to defund ICE. You know. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, created by the Congress with bipartisan support, under the supervision of the Department Homeland Security.

If you recall, ICE was created in March 2003 as a result of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, which merged the investigative and interior enforcement elements of the former US Customs Service and the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Its mission is to identify, investigate, and eliminate vulnerabilities in the nation's border, economic, transportation, and infrastructure security. 

Presidents from both political parties have recognized and acknowledged the importance of this agency to eliminate those people presently in this country illegally, especially those who committed crimes in their home countries or here, since they arrived. 

But now, suddenly Democrats and liberals who oppose President Trump’s constitutional responsibility to enforce our immigration laws have grabbed on to the cause to Defund ICE. Which seems to be the cry in so-called sanctuary states and cities who harbor illegal aliens. For various nefarious purposes.

Reasonable Democrats, as well as Republicans and Independents, support the elimination of illegals, especially those with criminal backgrounds. Those who have entered into our country and commit additional heinous crimes against society do not deserve additional “due process”, since none was given to THEIR victims. And there are too many.

It is time to end the insanity to defend these people and send them back to their countries of origin. And prosecute those elected officials who continue to violate their oaths to defend OUR country.

Including both Federal and State representatives and governors, and others, who violate the ConstItution and our laws.

How To Beat Those Winter Days

Today is January 27, and it is a frigid day in virtually every state in this country. And even in Hawaii, earlier this month, it was reported that ten inches of snow fell on several volcano peaks!

Anyhow, temperatures ranged from -11* in Fairbanks, to 14* in Bangor, to 17* in NYC and 35* in   Orlando. DAMN, that is COLD!

But, here is some good news, My Friends. It WILL get warm again. You can count on it.

In six days, we will reach the halfway mark between Winter and Spring on February 2. Then, on March 8, 40 days from today, we will see 7:30 sunsets again with the return of Daylight Savings Time. 

In just thirteen days after we change our clocks, the first date of Spring arrives. Then, on April 1 it's Passover; and finally, on April 5, a mere sixty-eight days from today, tulips and daffodils will be noticeable as we celebrate Easter.

Just the thought has to warm your heart. Doesn't it? Helps to rid the fog of the winter doldrums from your mind and think clear thoughts again.

So, don't fret over some wind chills and a little bit of white powder. It will warm up and it will all melt away, leaving you with the memory that you overcame another of nature's attempts to discourage you.

And remember, nothing, not even cold weather, lasts forever. Enjoy your hot cocoa!

An Illogical First Choice To Take a Stand By Mamdani

While forty states brace for a massive winter storm this weekend, including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, New York City Mayor Mamdani brazenly has declared as of Friday, “No snow day for you!”

Public school students can at best hope for remote classes for early next week as the city braces for a potentially devastating storm that the mayor has already said could dump more than a foot of snow or more across the Big Apple. And it is expected that there could be a loss of electricity, as well.

The city will confirm by Sunday 12PM whether students should show up for class in person or log in remotely. But what good would working from home on Google Classroom if you can’t turn the computer on?

Forecasters are predicting the fast-approaching monster winter storm could batter the city with up to 18 inches of snow through Monday, bringing bone-chilling temps and a travel nightmare across the tri-state.

Even Gov Kathy “Krazy Kat” Hochul on Friday declared a state of emergency for the entire state, as Mamdani insisted the city was well-prepared to weather the first major storm of his administration, dubbing the operation “Blade Runner 2.0.”

Mamdani urged New Yorkers to hunker down inside. Oh, and stay safe.

“I want to encourage New Yorkers to do their parts to stay safe this weekend. That is why we are issuing a hazardous travel advisory for Sunday and for Monday,” he said.

“I want to encourage New Yorkers to do something that we don’t often have the luxury of doing, which is take a breath and stay home, stay indoors, stay off the roads, watch the snow come down, watch the worst possible reality TV show you can find.”

But schools will be open, he insisted. One way or another. All to get Federal and state money for his panacea of socialist programs.

This illogical decision by the Mayor may show his glaring failure to be a leader in order to show, instead, that he is a boss.

Good luck with that!

Remembering All Who Gave Their Lives To the Final Fontier

It will be forty years this coming Wednesday, January 28, 1986, when the Challenger exploded seventy-three seconds after liftoff. It will be fifty-nine years since Apollo 1 caught fire during a test on the launch pad on January 27, 1967.

It also will be twenty-three years since Columbia blew apart as it returned to earth passing over Texas on February 1, 2003.

In each case, there was nothing NASA, or anyone else, could do to save them. Several other American astronauts and Soviet cosmonauts died in the pursuit to explore space, the final frontier.

“It’s hard to believe it was that long ago,” said four-time astronaut and former NASA associated administrator Bob Cabana during NASA’s Day of Remembrance ceremony yesterday at KSC’s Visitor Complex. “For those of us who were around at the time, the picture of those two solid rocket motors, their plumes going off in separate directions against that clear, blue Florida sky that morning is something that’s firmly etched in our brains that we will always remember.”

These brave souls should and will be remembered now and always for the noble cause of learning the secrets of space and the knowledge which will be gained for all mankind. It is an innate quality we have as a species to learn all we can about our neighborhoods and our universe.

As much as the explorers who left the comfort of their homes to find “shorter routes” to Asia more than five centuries ago, and instead, found two continents and several unexpected islands in the way as they headed west, they learned much about the world they did not know in which they lived. It inspired additional journeys to learn all they could as their horizons expanded.

To the modern-day men and women who died daring this same pursuit, we salute you. 

As President Reagan said that night when the seven astronauts died in the Challenger explosion,  they "slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God," a poignant line from the poem "High Flight" used to honor their sacrifice and aspirations. He further told the nation, "We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw them, this morning, as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye". 

As NASA prepares to visit the moon again next month with Artemis II, let us remember those who went before into the vast reaches of space to pave the road for a new way and pray for a safe return.

May God continue to keep them all safe and may He continue to bless them forever.

Let Freedom Ring In Iran

​Where, oh where are the “Free Palestine” protesters when it comes to the atrocities being committed in Iran by its “government” against its people? This is ACTUAL genocide, unlike what they perceived happened  in Israel, where Arabs and others were part of the Israeli Knesset.

Israelis were not shooting nor hanging those who protested their government. Like the Ayatollah and his “holy” Mullahs are.

It was revealed that the illegitimate Iranian government has acknowledged that, since December 28, almost 5,000 citizens have been killed, and another 9,400 deaths are under investigation. However, other human rights groups have put that number at well over 20,000. 

And in order to retrieve the bodies of their loved ones to be buried, the Mullahs are requiring TEN BILLION Rials or $9,400 from the families for that privilege.

It was reported that many of the captured men and women were raped and otherwise sexually assaulted by IRGC soldiers before they were killed, and in some cases, had their bodies burned by these barbarians.

And yet, ISRAEL was blamed for genocidal atrocities? This Iranian dictatorship is the 21st century equivalent of the worst of Nazi Germany, and have put Hitler, Himmler, Goebbels, et al, to shame by what the Mullahs are getting away with by the court of world opinion. 

The UN and many countries remain silent as they continue to recognize the current Iranian government as a legitimate member of the world’s civilized society? This is inhumane.

As the United States moves into position to defend the Iranian people, the world screams that President Trump is war-mongering, rather than demanding that the theocracy cease and desist the torture of its people, where is THEIR sense of justice and humanity? Apparently, in bed with the persecutors. 

One would think that after forty-seven years of this, the world as a whole would say “enough”. But it continues to maintain a blind eye to what the regime is doing in Iran. For what? To claim it recognizes the theocracy as a legitimate government at the cost of their failings to protect Iranian citizens?

How much long longer must we witness this double standard of blaming Israel for genocide while allowing the barbarians who rule Iran to continue unchecked?

This is one time that America’s military might should be used in the Middle East to remove this threat from its unfettered torture of its people and continued threat to peace in the region and the world. Yet the world “leaders” rumble in protest.

Wake up, people and support the Iranian citizens as THEY attempt true regime change. For THEIR freedom from continued barbarianism by their oppressors.
