Of course, Jordan and Egypt rejected it out of hand, because those countries would be expected to take in millions of temporary refugees for an unknown period of time.
But then, after you had some time to consider it, you begin to think it may not be such a bad idea.
And by the way, what idea did anyone else come up with to resolve the dilemma Palestinians face right now? Or ever? The silence is deafening. But the answer is bzzzz, nada, niende, nothing.
So sit down, shut up and pay attention.
Donald Trump didn’t just pull this out of a hat. Nope. Instead, he had Steve Witkoff, his Special Middle East Envoy, in the area as the hostage negotiations were taking place, and probably instructed him to take a closer look at the whole war-torn area, and report back with his findings.
As a builder, he knew construction could not be done over such rubble and damage. And he knew Bibi was coming to town so he chose this time for his big reveal.
Wednesday evening, it
was reported in the New York Post that while Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations have publicly rejected President Trump’s plan to evacuate war-torn Gaza’s 2.3 million residents so the US can “take over” and redevelop the land, they may come to support it in secret because it would finally solve decades of conflict and end Hamas’ iron grip, a former Israel-Palestine negotiator says.
Now who is looking stupid? Trump? Or the liberal media dumb@$$÷$?
Avi Melamed, an ex-Israeli intelligence official who served as a senior Arab affairs adviser to Jerusalem, said, “I wouldn’t be surprised to know that in the back rooms, the Saudis, the Egyptians, the Jordanians, are very much happy about Trump’s… that idea of the United States taking control over the situation in Gaza.”
And getting rid of Hamas serves every country’s best interest in the region, including Israel.
“We have to remember that in the end of the day, Hamas presents Egypt and Jordan and the Saudis and the Emirates… a significant threat,” he added.
Finally having peace in that tinderbox is good for all concerned. It would be a logical next step in the Abraham Accords.
Once Gaza was redeveloped, the people could be relocated back to a rebuilt, safe community with jobs, and with the ability to live in peace with its neighbors. All of them.
Isn’t that the purpose of a two-state solution? And having Prime Minister Netanyahu present when President Trump made his announcement told the other nations that Israel was on board. And they should get on board, too.
Now, THAT is The Art of the Deal. And Trump IS the master of it.
So smooth of an entire game of World Chess by a real Grandmaster.
