I saw a news blurb today of an interview of Anthony Weiner and an unidentified reporter. She pressed him on the issue of why he felt that the chief administrative officer of New York City, ie, the Mayor, could be held to a different moral standard than the people who work in the Mayor's office or any other city agency.
Mr Weiner, in his usual diplomatic way, was his snarky self by arguing with the reporter for asking such a question and by asking if she planned on voting for him. She said she wasn't going to vote for him and he tried to dismiss her by saying that she made up her mind and she should let others make up theirs.
Anthony Weiner needs to remember that if the people don't vote for him, he doesn't have a job. And his snarky attitude is not winning him any love right now, on top of the personal mess he created for himself.
When he announced in May that he was running for Mayor, he indicated there may be additional pictures or texts that may come out as a result of his entry into political life again. It seemed that he was referring to activities which took place prior to his resignation from the Congress in June, 2011.
Once again, he has been exposed as a liar and a fraud, as he tried to dissemble the facts as they were. Everyone presumed that he had cleaned up his act, but instead, he tried to snooker the people of that fine city, by appearing to be the contrite and healed candidate.
Since last week when new facts were revealed, his poll numbers went from the high 30s to just 16%. Is it any wonder why he should not be running anymore, and for the sake of his family, withdraw?
I am certain Ms Hillary does not need this baggage attached to any presidential aspirations she may have, due to her association with Huma Abedin, her senior advisor and Mr Weiner's spouse. What are the odds Bill will be calling Tony-Boy, aka Carlos Danger, prodding and pushing Mr Weiner off the political cliff.
I give it even up that by Friday, this fiasco will be over.
