In her ruling, she said, “In short, the Department offers no valid justification for the purportedly urgent desire to release to members of Congress case information in an ongoing criminal proceeding.”
Since corrupt former AG Merrick Garland was trying to besmirch Trump as he was walking out the door, it was evident that the whole case stinks of political lawfare and castigation. Without regard to anyone’s Constitutional rights to a fair trial. And Judge Cannon made a point to call him out in this issue in her opinion.
“The bare wishes of one Attorney General with 'limited time' in office to comply with a nonexistent 'historical practice' of releasing Special Counsel reports in the pendency of criminal proceedings is not a valid reason," Cannon wrote.
"And surely it does not override the obvious constitutional interests of Defendants in this action and this Court's duty to protect the integrity of this proceeding."
And since there is no one left in the Biden DOJ who would have standing to appeal this ruling, it will linger until someone either picks up the ball from the Trump DOJ and pursues it on appeal. Or drops the entire case because it never should have be brought to begin with.
You know, like the incoming Attorney General, Pam Bondi.
