Where is Hollywood? Not the community at large, obviously. That's in California. What I mean by the term "Hollywood" is the liberal entertainment community, which seems to have opinions on every issue in America.
It doesn't matter if it's abortion, gay marriage, immigration, human rights, the environment or war, it always has something to say. Except now.
In the run up to the Iraq War in 2002 and early 2003, over 100 "celebrities" signed a petition that President Bush cease and desist from entering that war, as they felt it was immoral and illegal for our armed forces to be used offensively. These included, Matt Damon, Samuel L Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Jane Fonda and many other "A-List" types.
Ironically, all you hear now from Hollywood is the Sound of Silence, not even crickets. Why is that?
I am consistent, folks. I am against war at any time with one caveat. I was against both Iraq Wars, Libya, Vietnam. I believe, however, that if we are attacked, as we were with al-Qaeda and Afghanistan, ie the Taliban, then we have the right to get the perpetrators of the attack. But I also believe that once our troops are committed, then we must support them, unlike what we did with the soldiers who served in Vietnam.
So, Hollywood, why were you so vocal in 2003 with a Republican President you despised, but seem to have lost your voice with your darling, a liberal Democrat. Does the word "hypocrisy" strike a chord with you?
Apparently not, because you have no shame. You love to tell the rest of us what to do but don't have the same passion to do it yourself. You know that Bush had the UN and the EU on his side and Obama has no support from the international community. Yet, silent you stay.
So, next time you have something to say, think about what you did here and shut up. You have no right to offer your opinion on anything, if you care not to say anything now.
No one will care what hypocrites think.
