Punish the Guilty Who Take Away Anothers' Rights

President Trump was expected to sign an Executive Order for the Justice Department and other entities to investigate the widespread outbreak of anti-semitism on college campuses especially since October 7, 2013. If necessary, he will order the prosecution of those involved, and if found guilty, to deport anti-Jewish activists who violated laws.

As reported in this morning’s New York Post, the order requires agency and department leaders to provide the White House with recommendations within 60 days and outlines plans for the Justice Department to investigate pro-Hamas graffiti and intimidation, including on college campuses, according to a document describing the order.

That order contained a passage that called for the US toensure that admitted aliens and aliens otherwise already present in the United Statesdo notsupport designated foreign terrorists,” though the intended effect of the wording was not immediately clear.

In addition, six Republican-led House committees issued a report last month calling for the federal government to do more to address anti-semitism, including by conditioning federal aid to colleges to force stricter policies against anti-Jewish bias.

Many Jewish students were intimidated by the violent protests which occurred on several college campuses, including Columbia University, which shared heavily in the more than $2.7Bn in Federal grants in fiscal year 2023.

Hate speech generally is legal in the US, but the House GOP report released last month argues that federal law bars recipients of taxpayer funds from tolerating discrimination, allowing a way to force recipients to stiffen policies.

Anti-semitism is generally considered hate speech. But the actions of those who practiced it went far beyond some verbal bullying. There was physical harm involved against Jews generally, and Jewish students in particular.

In addition, while free speech is a right under our Constitution, Federal courts have found that non-citizens have fewer free speech rights than American citizens.

Foreigners who are found s guilty of such despicable acts should be deported immediately. And Americans who engaged in this violence must realize that free speech does not allow you to take away the rights of others.

Punishment of such heinous acts must be meaningful and enforced.
