It is bestowed, usually, by a committee of one's peers as a sign of respect for past performance, while still holding a comparable position in the same place. For example, a university or business may deem the title, Chairman Emeritus, to the soon-to-be retired honoree.
One NEVER bestows thar honor on himself or herself. Except Nancy Pelosi.
As it was recently reported in the Washington Examiner and other sources, the 84-year-old, self-described Speaker-Emerita, filed a statement of candidacy Thursday with the Federal Election Commission after winning a 20th term last week. A spokesperson for Pelosi declined to say whether she is running for reelection, but the paperwork is an early indication of her intentions.
But as the results of the last showed, her time is loooong past. The voters in San Francisco need to see this. And after she single-handedly took down the ENTIRE Democrat machine, by HERSELF, the leadership needs to tell her to sit down and shut the hell up.
This is a revenge-play, pure and simple. She is so deranged that she believes she can stalk Donald Trump for the next four years. But the new breed, Hakeem Jeffries and his leadership team, needs to put her in her place.
She is like an albatross around any attempt that the Minority Leader wants to accomplish getting bi-partisan support for his agenda. His power will be contained and he will fail as long as she is given any face time in the media.
He was courteous and respectful over the last two years to her. But if he continues to defer to her, he will lose his base.
As for Donald Trump, he IS the President and does not need to concern himself with her. She is but a gnat, trying to annoy him. He only needs to flick her away with his finger, like the pest and parasite she is.
And as for Hakeem, if he doesn’t stop referring to her with her self-styled title, he will NEVER earn the respect of his caucus.
