Playing "Political Chicken" With the President

It seems the current Governor of New York
is a weasel. She “paused” the wildly unpopular congestion pricing during the summer, when she was asked to do so by Hakeem Jefferies, because by instituting it, he told her it would hurt Democrats in the election.

Now that the election is done, Krazy Kat Hochul has decided to initiate the program at $9.00 rather than for the previously approved $15.00.

But by doing so, she is thumbing her nose ar President-Elect Donald Trump who has been against it since it was first proposed by former Governor Andrew Cuomo. And as an aside, HE is against now, too.

So, Krazy Kat, according to the New York Post, is showing her lack of political acumen by stating she is going to iimplement it before Trump gets into office. And then he can’t do anything about. Or so she thinks.

She had a call last week with him after the election and they talked about many things. Especially how to revitalize the Garden and Penn Station. But while he may not be able to stop her from implementing the program, he can make her look like the fool she is.

He CAN veto any bill which would have allotted money to the Garden, Penn Station and other items on her wish list. He will have control of the Congress to PREVENT an override to his veto.

And it would be her own hubris which caused it.

Then, New Yorkers would see what a Krazy Kat she really was for instituting something that really hurt Democrat and Republicans alike. She will find herself escorted from the Governor’s Mansion after the election in November of 2026.

So, go ahead, Governor. See who really is in charge, you or the President. And see if you will win the game of “political chicken”.

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
