Time To Cancel Awards Shows

Did anyone see the Golden Globe Awards Ceremony last night on CBS? Anyone?!?

I, for one, did not. I was too busy watching the paint dry, hearing the wind blow, witnessing the trees leaf and just doing something else more entertaining. Or more important.

For many years, I have avoided these self-aggrandizing, narcissistic “look at me, I’m special” award shows. These self-righteous “celebrities” with no more talent than most high school performers take to the stage to spew some BS  about what they feel is wrong or unjust in America, without giving a thought to what is really wrong in the rest of the world.

Believing that taking the platform gives them license to share their opinions.

RED ALERT: No one gives a $#!+ what you have to say.

Here is part of what one of your colleagues, Ricky Gervais, said a few years ago to make this point directly to you when he hosted the Golden Globes in 2020:

"So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.

So if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent, and your God and fxck off, OK? It’s already three hours long. Right, let’s do the first award."

He was so right. And honest. It was a funny bit which I heard on YouTube in its entirety. It was refreshing to see the Hollywood elite called out by one of their own.

But, some still think their opinions matter. And they are so narcissistic they don’t realize no one cares

Laura Ingraham once wtote a book called Shut Up and Sing where she said essentially the same thing. But the "celebrities" apparently did not read her book. And that was written in 2003.

Perhaps, it is time they should.
