Can Lightening Strike Twice?

This past Saturday, my old high school, Floral Park Memorial on Long Island, held its Homecoming Parade and its homecoming game, which they won 34-7,  for the 2015-2016 season. Knowing that brought back so many good memories of my Senior Year in 1968-1969.

That year, our Varsity team, the Knights, led by Dave Meehan, Ted Wright, Don Raimo, Ray Lawlor, Jack Bakke and Artie Block were Division IV champs. I was, sadly, not a member of that team, though Jack recently said to me I should have been. I laughed and thanked him for his kindness.

Anyway, our cheerleaders and kickline, called the Florettes, were led by Teray Martini, Debi Rauzi, Denise Boccalini, Susan DeStefano, Ginger McGuire, Phyllis Masi and Roseanne Lotito were the best ever. I can't remember who was a part of which group, but they all were pretty and "inspirational".

The reason I share this is for this reason: our Division IV champs paved the way for the New York Jets to win the Super Bowl in January and for the New York Mets to win the World Series the following October.

On Saturday, while the Floral Park Knights were starting their season, my New York Mets clinched the National League Eastern Division and will be going to the playoffs. On Sunday, my 2-0 New York Jets will continue their quest toward a possible playoff appearance and perhaps, a Super Bowl win.

Yes. I know I am a dreamer. But I have seen this played out before. And the results were fantastic, once in a lifetime.

Who doesn't believe lightening can't strike twice? I do. Do you?

Let's root for the perfect Trifecta. Go Knights. Lets Go Mets. J E T S JETS JETS JETS!
