A Special Stearns Song

Now that the MLB Trade Deadline is in the rear view mirror, we can look to see what the result portends for the Mets. It is ugly.

During the last off-season, Boy Genius  Stearns gave away the core of the team, in Alonso, McNeil, Diaz and Nimmo. To replace them, he brought back Peralta, Semien, Bichette and Polanco.

Well, Peralta is gone now, Polanco has been absent and both Semien and Bichette have had sub-par performance. All of them will be free agents at the end of this season.

And while the Boy Wonder has made a proclamation that the deadline moves have a return of players who would help the Mets compete in 2027, any knowledgable fan knows he is blowing smoke and is hoping you can’t smell or see it.

By the way, it is rumored that it was Peralta who managed to broker the peace between Lindor and Soto, who made no secret they disliked or disrespected each other. And, poof! now he is gone.

Good move, Smart@$$!

So, we can cheer Benge, Ewing, McLean and maybe Thornton to give us some shining moments, and perhaps, witness one or all of them in the Rookie of the Year battles in November. And watch as Carlos Beltran has his number retired in September,

But for the rest of this lost season, it will take a miracle to win 70 games. At least the season can’t be as bad as 1962, 1963, 1964, 1977, or 1993. Can it? We hope not,

And as for the Boy Genius, with his smug grin, maybe it time to sing a special song as he thinks about packing his bags to send him off to the sunset.

How does “Nananana, Heyheyhey, Goodbye” sound?

As always, Let’s Go Mets!
