The Abuse of the Fifth Amendment

“On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the question on the grounds it might incriminate me.”

​After watching the Senate-Fauci hearings today, one can say that the good Doctor invoked the Fifth Amendment more times than any Mafia figure in American history. 

This Amendment was written by James Madison in order to prevent the government from forcing a person to give evidence against themselves or face trial twice for the same crime. Congress added the phrase "in any criminal case" to limit self-protection rules to criminal trials rather than civil ones.But it was not a “get out of jail free” card.

Unfortunately, people who are guilty of the crimes for which they are accused, use this Amendment indiscriminately to the point of madness. This is abuse of the purpose of the Amendment.

Eventually, a Mafia Don or his subordinates generally will be found guilty of the crimes for which they are accused. Also, most criminals when offered immunity, will answer questions without fear of indictment, even if his answer would otherwise incriminate him.

However, Dr Fauci, who held a Presidential pardon in his pocket, decided to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights over SEVENTY times. This was his narcissistic way of obstructing justice on a whole level of self-preservation reasons.

But, instead, the die may be cast for Fauci to be held in Contempt on Congress. . Deservedly so. We The People have the right to know what happened, from soups to nuts, to cause the disaster known as COVID-19.

What he did was to abuse our rights under the Fifth amendment to save his own skin.
