The Lie and the Sin of Stolen Valor

Before I begin, I will offer that I did not serve in the military. It was during the Vietnam War, and President Nixon had instituted the lottery system. I was extremely fortunate that my lottery number was 293.

 

I was preparing to go into the Seminary, so had I been called, I would have been in the chaplaincy. But instead, the day after the lottery drawing, I went down to my draft board and dropped my student deferment.

I am not a fan of war; no one is. But I will ALWAYS support the men and women who now choose to enlist. They give up so much, with little thanks, to defend our country.

Richard Blumenthal, Ðemocrat Senator from Connecticut, served in the Marine Corps Reserves, beginning in April, 1970 just before the first lottery that June. His deferments had run out and he followed the same path many others did. He played the game by the rules at that time.

 As The New York Times noted, joining the Marine Reserves "virtually guaranteed that he would not be sent to Vietnam". He served in units stationed in Washington, D.C., and Connecticut from 1970 to 1976, attaining the rank of sergeant.

However, during his 2010 Senate campaign, news report videos that showed Blumenthal, claiming he had served in Vietnam, created a controversy. He denied having intentionally misled voters, but acknowledged having occasionally "misspoken" about his service record. He later apologized to voters for remarks about his military service that he said had not been "clear or precise". Essentially, he lied and is guilty of Stolen Valor.

But he is not the only one guilty of this travesty. Many others have taken credit for military service, either by saying they served or by exaggerating what they did when they did serve.

Now, we have learned that there is now a more prominent offender of this deceit. It was reported today in the New York Post and elsewhere that the current Democrat Vice President designee, is guilty as well of Stolen Valor.

Apparently, this information was missed by the people in the Harris campaign responsible for vetting the candidates prior to Kammy announcing her choice this past Monday. Or, maybe once again, those few in high places within the campaign assumed their friends in the media would genuflect and suppress the truth.

Now, the Democrat elite are trying to spin every possible way except the facts. Even CNN’s Jim Acosta, not exactly a fan of the Trump campaign, was forced to correct Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn) on Wednesday after the Democrat Senator, a surrogate for VP Harris, said Sen. JD Vance had no record of military service.

MSNBC’s All In host Chris Hayes accused Republicans of “swift boating” him on Tuesday. That was John Kerry’s Stolen Valor moment in the 2004 campaign against President Bush.

What other facts are lying just lying under the surface to expose Walz to be a fraud?

Perhaps, this might be a good time BEFORE the convention for Kammy’s bosses to “Thomas Eagleton” Timmy and admit they screwed up. Otherwise, the resulting embarrasment will be worse than George McGovern endured in 1972.

Or will they be smug and tough it out, to the destruction of their prize candidate? Time will tell.

How Taylor Was Saved By Swift Action

It was reported yesterday that Taylor Swift had to cancel several performances this week in Vienna as she was a target of a terrorist attack by ISIS or ISIS sympathizers. No performer or other public figure should ever fear being a target of any violent act. They are standing on stage or at a podium with no protection or any way to respond.

 

Taylor Swift had her first big hit at sixteen as a country singer. My daughter, who is just a few years older than Taylor, and other girls in that same generation were fans, big time. She would eventually become that generation’s version of Beatlemania.

And now, my daughter and my daughter-in-law’s daughters, my granddaughters, who are all under nine-years-old, know the words and the music to just about every song, and of course, my grandsons just roll their eyes when their sisters start to dance and sing when a “Swift-hit” comes on.

And I am sure this is a common occurrence in many families, where sisters will sing while their brothers" hands will wring. Come on guys… girls just want to have fun! (I know. A hit from another legendary female singer.)

I, of course, am not a fan. It would be weird for a seventy-three-year-old man to be a fan of someone half my age. Or younger. But I am a fan of watching, with delight, how much joy this performer brings to the female contingent of my family.

Thankfully, the perpetrators were caught and justice will be served. And all the girls around the world will dance or sing, and try to be like Taylor. It is, as I recall, what my generation did with Beatle wigs and boots. And collarless suits.

And soon enough, another Taylor hit will be sung and once again, the girls will have won. And have fun. Sorry guys.

Pelosi and Stahl Discuss Old Joe

Consequential President? Adding him to Mount Rushmore? Is she stoned? Is he?

 

Yes, Old Joe IS stoned from the drugs he is being given. He cannot be awake at work for more than six or eight hours at a time. We have been told his best part of the day is from 10 AM to 6 PM. And having an ice cream cone. Outside those hours is nap time .

And what about Nancy? Was she stoned? Has she had her brain turned to mush from all the Ketel One martinis she has had? Note to Nancy: an extra dry martini is made with less vermouth, not straight-up vodka.

Last weekend, in her “exclusive ” interview with Leslie Stahl, she proclaimed Biden to be the most “consequential President” we ever had and deserves “to be on Mount Rushmore” along with Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt.

Now, Leslie Stahl has been considered a respected journalist for many years by many people. Not sure how she held back laughing in Pelosi’s face, unless she believes that to also be true. But she did ask a follow-up question in her most serious, composed journalist voice.

Have to give credit to Leslie on that as Pelosi rambled on about Teddy Roosevelt. But then, she didn’t question Pelosi as she told a bold-faced lie about not being involved in the coup against Old Joe.

No one with any sober, thoughtful brain believes that, Nancy. NO ONE.

Why any respected journalist or news organization would continue to give Nancy Pelosi the opportunity to spew nonsense about anything resembling a political thought is beyond the pale. She is a drunken old sot, with a mind soaked in too many years of alcohol, to be one where that a respected journalist could have a meaningful conversation or exchange of ideas. 

Leslie, you came down a few notches this weekend. Hopefully, you can restore some journalistic integrity before your hang up your mike.

And for you, Nancy? Your time is long past and your opinion on anything serves no measure of intelligent value. Go find a gin mill somewhere and have another martini. Your liver and brain are calling you.

In any case, go away. JUST GO AWAY!

Identity or Issues - Which Voter Are You?

Today, I listened to Dick Morris discuss the two main groups of voters who actually vote in our elections. There are voters who vote on the candidate with whom they identify and voters who vote for the candidate who discusses the important issues of the day.

Let me explain.

If you vote for someone who looks like you, like race, or sympathizes with your gender identity, like LBGTQ, or points out your heritage, say Latino or Asian, chances are you will vote for a Democrat. This year, your identity politics would say you are voting for Kamala Harris. Why? Because that is what she talks about. She certainly can’t discuss the failed Biden/Harris record.

And if you vote for someone who agrees with your positions on the economy, like inflation costs, or energy costs, like the price of gasoline, or peace in the Middle East, like ending the current hostilities, you will vote for a Republican. This year, that would be Donald Trump. Why? Because that is his focus. And he CAN discuss his successful record on all these issues.

Years ago, George Carlin did a routine which pointed out our differences. Like race, religion, sexuality and other markers which made us different and how it divides us. The Democrats do this routine fairly well, and this year, Kammie has been assigned that task.

Hence, Identity Politics.

Donald Trump, instead, talks about the issues we face, how we got here and how he plans to solve it. He asks us to stand up and face the challenges head-on, knowing we all will have to swallow hard.

Thus, Issue Politics.

Facing the issues has always been harder to do. We have elected better Presidents who have showed us the issues and how to solve them.

FDR, John F Kennedy and Ronald Reagan come immediately to mind. Each man has asked us to do more, and while people were reluctant, time proved this was the right path to follow. 

The others, like Carter, Clinton, Obama and a few others would try to assign blame to other groups who were not in the audience at the time they spoke to a specific group. And if you recall, just four years ago Biden said to Charlemagne Tha God, “If you don’t vote Democrat, you ain’t black.”

Trump is hard-nosed and speaks like a Queens boy would. Bluntly and directly. His message is like that of FDR, JFK and Reagan, though his bluntness sometimes gets in his way. You need to get past that.

This year, you should be more concerned about issues which affects you and others than your identity which is self-specific.

I am an Issues Voter and I am voting for Donald Trump.

The Mets New Mission

Since the All Star Game, the New York Mets have played seventeen games before Tuesday's game and series against the Colorado Rockies. In that time, they have a record of ten wins and seven losses, including, split series with Miami and Atlanta, a series win against the Yankees and a series loss against the Angels.

 

Not bad. But not great, either. They need to pick up the pace and play better than 58% winning baseball. It needs to be on a pace the rest of the way of at least winning 67% or better of their remaining games.

Presently, their season to date record is 59 and 53, six games over .500. Considering where they were on Memorial Day, they have made a remarkably excellent recovery.

But now, there are only fifty games left in the regular season. They need to win thirty-four games or more to have a chance at the Wild Card. That would give them a respectable 93 and 69 record. But they need to keep pace with the Braves and pass the Padres and the Diamondbacks. 

They also need to continue to stay ahead of the Pirates and the Cardinals.

They are currently 1.5 games behind the last Wild Card position and it is becoming increasingly difficult to catch the Division-leading Phillies, who they trail by seven games.

For now, they need to make the Wild Card to have a chance at the pennant and ultimately, the World Series. But first things first. Get into the playoffs as the Wild Card.

And just like every other Mets Fan, I will scream to high Heaven: LETS GO METS!!

Meet Tim Walz

It was announced today that presumptive Democrat nominee Kanala Harris has selected Minnesota Governor Timothy Walz as her pick for Vice President. We will learn more about him in the coming days leading up to the Democrat Convention on August 19.  

For now, this is what we know.

Governor Walz is a retired Command Sergeant Major in the US Army, the Nebraska National Guard and then, in the Minnesota National Guard, serving from 1981 to 2005. Thank you for your service.

He has flipped positions, like John Kerry, on many issues over the years. For example, he was a proponent for gun rights for all, until Parkland. Then, he became an advocate for strict gun control and as governor, Walz expressed support for gun regulation. In 2023, he signed into law a public safety bill that establishes universal background checks and red-flag laws in Minnesota.

As a Congressman in 2008, he voted against President Bush’s government bailouts for banks, auto companies and TARP. But in 2009, he did vote with his Democrat colleagues to support President Obama and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. As a member of the House Transportation Committee, Walz saw the stimulus bill as an opportunity to work "with his congressional colleagues to make job creation through investment in public infrastructure like roads, bridges and clean energy the cornerstone of the economic recovery plan".

Later, he also voted for the Enhancing Small Business Research and Innovation Act, which he described as "part of our long-term economic blueprint to spur job creation by encouraging America's entrepreneurs to innovate toward breakthrough technological advancements".

His position on Israel is also two-sided. He has been described as a "proud pro-Israel Democrat with a strong record of supporting the U.S.-Israel relationship."

At the same time, progressives — including those who have accused Israel of committing genocide — are elated by Walz's selection, owing to his more conciliatory approach toward the pro-Palestinian movement.

After tens of thousands of Democrats cast "uncommitted" ballots in Minnesota's presidential primary — Walz took a sympathetic view, even praising those voters for being "civically engaged."

"This issue is a humanitarian crisis, they have every right to be heard," Walz said. "These folks are asking for a change in course, they're asking for more pressure to be put on."

There is more to be said and more to learn about Governor Walz. Suffice to say, he is a man who will say or do anything to appease the crowd. He is trying to show he is the man for all the people but he is the man to attempt only to do double-speak for Kamala Harris.

Kinda like Neville Chamberlain after Munich.

Do You Know Who Your Neighbor Is? Really Know?

Years ago, a TV station in New York would have someone ask just before the news broadcast, “It's ten o'clock. Do you know where your children are?” Today that question should be, “Do you know who your neighbor is?”

 

Here is why. It was reported yesterday by the House Judiciary Committee, “Under the Biden-Harris Administration, of the more than 250 illegal aliens on the terrorist watchlist who were encountered by Border Patrol at the southwest border between fiscal years 2021 and 2023, DHS has released into American communities at least 99, with at least 34 others in DHS custody but not yet removed from the United States.”

It further goes on to say, “Border Patrol has encountered tens of thousands of migrants from countries that could present national security risks – including 2,134 Afghan nationals, 33,347 Chinese nationals, 541 Iranian nationals, 520 Syrian nationals, and 3,104 Uzbek nationals.”

And one more highlight from the article, "But officials have warned about the risk that terrorists may seek to enter in through the southern border. That was on display when DHS identified over 400 individuals brought to the U.S. from Eastern European and Central Asian countries by an ISIS-affiliated smuggling network in the past several months."

Makes you feel warm and cozy. Yes? But they also know two million “gotaways”, people who escaped capture, are now loose in the country.
