Another Pillar Is Erected

In a much less contentious nomination process and Senate vote, Governor Kristi Noem from South Dakota was confirmed today as the new Homeland Security Secretary, by a vote of 59 to 34. Six Democrats, including John Fetterman and Elissa Slotkin, joined with fifty-three Republicans to confirm.

This was good for bringing the Senate together in a bi-partisan way after the vote to confirm Secretary Pete Hegseth.

As reported in the New York Post, she promised to restore Trump’s Remain in Mexico policy, and shutter the parole program for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans, which she said gives migrants a free trip to the US, courtesy of Uncle Sam.

There’s several of these programs that need to be eliminated, and we need to ensure that we’re following legal immigration laws.”

She will work with Border Czar Tom Homan as the DHS is responsible for securing the border, supervising the Border Patrol, the Coast Guard, TSA and the Secret Service. In total, over 260,000 employees work for DHS.

With Secretary Noem’s confirmation, President Trump has now in place four important pillars supporting his National Security policies; State, Defense, CIA and Homeland.

Hopefully, by the end of the month, we will see many more appoints confirmed and finally in place.
